So, since you lost at home to Texas by double digits, your other wins, like needing a miracle to beat a garbage Auburn team, somehow proves to the world that you deserve to be in the playoff over Texas?

No argument against the head to head point - hard to get around. but it ain’t like Texas went through mauling folks - and lost to OU team that is far below their norm.

But - if it came down to Tex or Bama - I just have a tough time getting over the head to head. Yes bama is a diff team now, yes beat #1, and is the sec champ- but they lost to a team they would be competing with for a spot. If bama got the nod over Tex- then what’s the point in playing the game? Or at least playing it in first half of season.

No one is considering TV and matchups.....Think of the ratings a Texas - Bama rematch would bring? As opposed to FSU getting took to the woodshed.

Yep- and bet that worth’s on the decision as well.

Bunch of things to unpack here and the funny part is that the CFP are boxed in not because of FSU, but instead for constantly giving teams the benefit of the doubt of potential future wins vs who they played and who they beat.

Oregon was constantly pushed up the rankings because of "style" and the assumption that they would beat Washington in a rematch, which obviously did not happen Friday night.

GA is under the same fallacy. The assumption was that GA would be the SEC champs and so therefore in the end their winning the SEC would justify their lofty ranking. So because of that, they ignored some of the concerns with UGA all season.

So in the end, all of this is tied to the CFP committee bet on the wrong horse twice and Bama losing to Texas dictated the structure that would be used to keep them out.

If everything would have gone chalk, there would be no arguments (unless it would be Texas/FSU) and the SEC is in.

I do think if the committee envisioned jumping Bama over FSU, Bama would have been higher ranked going into this weekends games.

Updated SportSource SoS rankings
Bama makes big jump after UGA game from 18 to 4.

#2 UTx
#4 Bama
#7 Wahington - should be #1 in final poll, but they won't be. At least they'll get the FSU bye week first round game and avoid UTx
#10 USCe
#12 LSU
#14 tOSU
#18 UF
#19 OU
#23 Mizzou
#25 State
#27 Michigan
#28 Vandy
#31 AU
#38 ole miss
#42 UTk
#48 aggie
#50 UGA (not the worst in the SEC anymore)
#51 UK (played Bama, UGA, Mizzou, and Louisville - head-scratcher; how bad was the rest of the schedule)
#52 Arky
#64 FSU (they just keep finding ways to win - - no shite; they played no one)

No they didn’t.

They have the easiest job ever today. I doubt it takes more than 30 seconds. Bama already lost to Texas, now they don’t have to see it twice.

Amputated Cam Newton isn’t a national championship QB. Though I’m sure you guys will still claim it, per usual

Completely agree. The committee is arse. I was rooting for FSU/Alabama/Oregon/Texas/Iowa just so it would blow up in their fricking faces lol.
