True, Mizzou would beat Ole Miss tomorrow. Also true, the Playoff Committee is a joke.

Mizzou would be a lock we were to play Saturday. They would be less of a lock if we played a month from now, but that’s besides the point.
The playoff committee has proven to base their rankings off of feelz. We all have feelz and my feelz tell me Mizzou is better.
But wouldn’t it be better if the committee based their rankings off of wins, losses, common opponents, and according to their rankings, strength of those wins and losses??
I don’t have a problem with Mizzou being ranked ahead of the Rebs, I have a problem with a system that is SO unclear and inconsistent. We deserve some sort of context for what is valued and what is not.
If we are going by the eye test, GREAT! Constantly moving the target to justify rankings is not the way.

This weird Mississippi/missouri feud is lame

Fwiw I’m fairly certain Vegas would have OM favored in a h2h matchup

Didn't read the OP.
But can confirm the playoff committee is a joke. Committees have no place in legitimate sports. Set the rules. Set the season. Let the athletes/teams compete and let the chips fall where they may.

I don’t give a damn about Mizzou honestly. They had a great season. This is just the current case study for the committee being trash.

Not wrong. MIZZOU. Would
Beat the shite out out of Ole Miss. Cody Scharader is badass!

I'm going to confess something; and I am not trying to argue, just clarify.
That thing you all make fun of, i.e. when someone notes whether a loss was close, has an impact on how I judge teams. If a team won close or lost close, makes a difference. I don't see why it would be a one-way street (as in only noting when wins are close.)
If the committee weighs games in that manner, it would seem consistent to me.

You’ll never have to worry about it. So good thing you don’t care

I happen to agree. Like Lewis Grizzard said “two mules fighting over a turnip”. We will both have good bowl games.wtf cares? Line up, play and win. Geez.

Agreed. That’s exactly how I judge teams, but that’s not what we are being sold with the committee. We either need to set concrete rules or throw them out completely and rank based on who we think is better the day they are released.
I’m fine with either, just not some gray area in between….

You should care because this affects how teams will be seeded for the 12 team playoff. Mizzou and OM are exactly the type of fringe programs that this will impact.

Why are you so fixated on who is better? We’re talking about the committee

Remember when the Committee was going to be a better system than the BCS? I member

That was always bullshite. Looks don't matter. Eye tests don't matter. Personal opinions don't matter.
Final scores matter.
If final scores don't determine the champion, then it's not a legitimate sport.
College football is broken, and all these bullshite committees and formulas, and eye tests, and polls, and bowl game committees are the reasons why.
Set the rules. Set the path to a title. Let the teams fight for it. Period.

It’s kind a shitty for you to get a better bowl is all
Matters nothing to us.
