When I initially heard the news of hiring Mark Stoops I was like WTF? This might be the most comical hire ever. I was waiting for tMelt from A&M fans.
Aggies fans nearly killed themselves but later they sighed with relief. And then Mark Stoops announced "I want to stay at Kentucky" lol.
And those looking for a new coach, Greg Schiano is available. Congrats to him, he made an improvement to 6-6 after winning 3 or 4 games a season. You are what your records says you are.

The Aggies’ coaching search jumped the rails Saturday night after Rivals and 247Sports reported that Texas A&M was set to hire Kentucky’s Mark Stoops as its next coach. The backlash from Aggies fans was swift, and the media mostly panned the potential hire.
I can’t say the blowback reached the level of Tennessee in 2017, when fans took to the streets to protest the Vols’ plan to hire Greg Schiano. Donors, business owners and state politicians publicly opposed the Schiano hire.
The Schiano deal fell through, and Tennessee athletic director John Currie lost his job days later, tossed overboard in favor of Phillip Fulmer.
No one got fired at Texas A&M on Saturday. Stoops calmed the waters when he released a statement after midnight saying that despite being contacted this weekend about the job, he was staying at UK.
Aggies fans sighed in relief, but now what?
In my eyes, swapping Jimbo Fisher for Stoops would’ve been a downgrade – and one that cost a $77 million buyout to implement.

Say what you want about Bjork, but part of his job is supposed to be to identify and hire the next HC. Evidently he tried to do that and was swiftly struck down by the big money boosters. That would concern me if I was an A&M fan. Either let your AD do his job or hire someone else. But don't try to run the program yourselves.

Bjork has a lot in common with Hyman Roth right now.

Ironic that Miami was a pivotal venue for both of their downfalls.

Josh Pate was all over it too. Brought up the Tennessee story. Gave quite good answers to why Elko was the guy at the end. Better fit.

The problem with big money boosters is that inevitably one or two will try to control everything. In our case, Jimmy Haslam had force fed hire after hire on us. Then AD Currie was taking marching orders from him and was completely blindsided when everyone else said 'wtf are you doing?' Had Currie not panicked and gone out own his own after getting burned by Jimmy Haslam on Schiano, I think he keeps his job.
Currie was trying to save it with a Leach hire but he wasn't keeping in touch with the BoT who were stuck catching all the heat for Haslam's first choice. No BoT is going to let an AD stick them with the angry fan reaction of the AD's mistake.
As for TAMU, I don't get how Stoops isn't good enough but Elko is. That just makes no sense. But I do agree with your point about boosters intefering too much. It brought us nothing but grief until we were able to break the grip Haslam and co. had on us.

This is the hate garbage you guys keep spreading. They are both good enough, but we want Elko. Why are you guys trying to keep instigating crap talk?

Josh Pate is an Aggie Apologist who’s opinion should not be taken seriously

Yikes.. so the fans/boosters run the show at 7&5? No wonder y’all haven’t won anything since 1939.

Would have done a better job than the guy Tennessee ended up hiring and probably not got you in trouble with the NCAA

Except that Stoops received the second offer that aTm made for the position. Not sure if Stoops found out, but I'm sure it wouldn't have helped if he knew.
Elko was at best the third choice on the list, if not even lower.
Bjork is a very poor AD at best. He should have been let go the very same day that Jimbo was shown the door.

Stop it. Everyone in the SEC West knows Elko. I don’t even think y’all scored 20 on him at home. I forget the score.
