“We got some natural rivalry games here that have tremendous fan interest, whether it’s Auburn, Tennessee and LSU. If you’re only going to play one of those, somebody is gonna be disappointed. I think if we eventually expand the schedule in the league, which probably will happen someday with that many teams, and you have three-fixed, probably have a little better chance of that happening,” said Saban.

Do you retract your call for open season on Georgia athletes being attacked on the field in all sports, volleyball, golf, basketball, etc? Because you personally called for all Georgia collegiate athletes to be attacked, targeted, injured, during the SEC CG last year. I have the receipts.

Honestly, who gives a frick? It's always been a usually over hyped anyway. Most fans understand it's not really a "rivalry" but is a big game every year, between two crazy arse fan bases

All permanent opponents are technically rivals. LSU/Bama isn't a historic rival like Tennessee and Auburn are to Bama. It's a relatively recent thing once LSU began to challenge for the Western division pretty much yearly.
Because of that combined with the fact that LSU doesn't have a natural rivalry, a lot LSU fans have really latched on to this game. Over the Saban era in Tuscaloosa, if you want to get to Atlanta you have to beat them and LSU has been in that position going into the first weekend in November more times than not.
