Did you not hear from Jamarcus and Jeff Saturday this morning?

Great football teams have video staff that do nothing but film and watch film and listen to the other team.

This includes signs and audibles. Every little detail. There’s a reason Saban has 40 people on his staff. Half of them watch and listen to film all day.

What Michigan did was perfectly legal because it was in the open. If Michigan snuck into another campus or inside a closed door practice like the patriots I would consider it to be different.

I’m going to wait to hear all the facts but at this point it all sounds typical.

I get what you're saying. But there is a specific set of rules in this case. And Michigan does seem to have broken those rules very specifically to the letter. Ofcourse you are right in that all kinds of analysis goes on with pre-game film, broadcast coverage, utilizing former players and staff if you've got them, etc....

I heard about the Venables rumors years ago and rather persistently. But I never heard of scouts on staff, with paid tickets and expenses, showing up on the sidelines weeks later telling the coaches what the other team's play is about to be. Maybe it happened and it's just that nobody ever knew where to look and we'll find video footage and money trails and the whole mess of things that's spilling out with Michigan. Maybe.

I have a feeling it's going to be a big slap on the wrist for Michigan and Harbough and the gang just because of the way the world is spinning at this point in time. In any case, I don't think that makes it right to break rules of this nature at all and moreso so blatantly at that.

No, because...as you would now if you had actually followed this story...what Michigan did was highly ILLEGAL because on campus scouting is explicitly forbidden by the NCAA. It was banned in 1994.

Yes...schools watch film all the time...film that they have legally exchanged with other schools. That's not what Michigan did.

No, it's not. The rules specifically prohibit it.

I am seeing now why Texas A&M sucks so bad over the years.
