Honestly, I think the SEC refs call the game somewhat in the favor of the team with a better chance to do better in the bowl/post regular-season.

The 2019 LSU-Alabama game was called evenly, as one example. But you have one SEC team standing at 8-0 and highly ranked, the other team at 4-4, you better believe the 8-0 team will get benefit of some calls.

This is a pretty good answer. That said, why is bama hypersensitive about this? And its not like only LSU complains about this. EVERYONE sees it. Why?

100 percent. It's so obvious it's not even a meme anymore...just facts. Water is wet.

As a gamecock fan I could try and make that same case anytime we play any of the big 6.

UF, UT, LSU, Bama, etc generally get calls that we dont. That said, you can't do much about it

This one sentence illustrates what is going on here. A game that this poster's team won is deemed to have been called fairly, while games that his team lost are assumed to have been called unfairly, thus resulting in those losses. There is a word for this kind of thinking and that word is "rationalization," which is all that all of this is. Why does everyone supposedly see this ref bias for Bama despite very clear statistical evidence that the opposite is actually true? Because everyone loses to Bama most of the time.

ATVS did a deep dive on this years ago.
The conclusion was that SEC refs suck across the board and no one team benefited more than the others.

What is that photo supposed to be proof of? The rule might be silly but it was called correctly. Cam Latu touched the ball while out of bounds. Dead ball.

I don’t think we are necessarily hyper-sensitive, we just seem to get called out more than others I guess. Explaining it to another fan is exhausting and repetitive. Even with facts flying in their face. When you’re winning a lot of games, others want to justify a reason. Most don’t see it as better players, better preparation, better coaches, better program. Georgia will be next on the chopping block accused of getting all the calls. It can’t be because they are just a better team.
Sensitive no, exhausted yes.

Bama's opponents once went two seasons without a holding call against them.

But it's the timing...

And Bama had multiple future NFL starters( a few being All-Pro) on those lines that never got held.

The fact is good teams overcome bad officiating, which evens out over time.

'Bama gets all the favorable calls. Like this incredibly clear hold on Will Anderson against A&M last year that was definitely called and certainly wasn't totally ignored by the officiating crew. Because, you know, Bama gets every favorable penalty at just the right times.

If bama bias is a hoax then why respond at all? Especially when it’s so obviously a hoax. According to you. The fact is that bama responds with hysterics because deep down they know it’s true.

Because corndogs melting continously about ref bias after being shown evidence to the contrary over and over again is always funny.

JJ Meadors TD catch to win for the hogs in 1995 would have been ruled incomplete in the SWC. Because it kinda was.

Y'all also scored on BAMA one year with 12 men on the field. The entire crew was suspended for a game, but it still cost BAMA the game.

Really in the last 15 years only the 2022, 2019, 2011 regular season, 2010 and 2007 Bama vs LSU games were called evenly.

Exactly. Bama really would be more like Arkansas if it werent for bias.

Bama seems to always benefit from those judgment calls at critical points in the game and this will not show on total statistical comparison.

I think LSU fans should have their own section on this Wikipedia page
