Crimson...he has to be told to play physical. He's not a physical player.

Something about being bad in every facet today and just getting absolutely out blue collared for 40 minutes actually makes me feel good for Wednesday. I think we see a refocused team, because they got dropped to reality quick today. Oats about to be all over them in practice and I think we right the ship big time Wednesday

Head Coach Nate Oats Postgame Comments
"That was as dominant of a performance that someone has put on us in a long time around here. They are good, they're tough, they're physical and we weren't ready for it. I didn't do a good enough job prepping them for their aggressiveness. They forced 22 turnovers and scored 23 points off our turnovers and they scored 17 second chance points. When you give up 40 points off turnovers and second chance points, you're not going to win very many games. You have to give them a ton of credit, Coach Barnes' teams always play hard and are one of the best teams on defense every year and they dominated us. We have to go back and get tougher and learn to take care of the ball a little better. Disappointing, but the good thing is it's one game. I told our guys we lost up here last year and still won the league. But we're going to have to get a lot tougher. I thought we did get a lot tougher and played a lot better after we lost this one last year, so hopefully that same thing happens. We will see some guys show some character and come back ready to play a little tougher brand a basketball."

Today is the 60th birthday for former @AlabamaMBB player and head coach Mark Gottfried, who led the Crimson Tide to its deepest NCAA Tournament run in school history.
I was a young little boy watching coaches shows growing up. I was watching the alabama show with behind the scenes. Mark didn't like a call against bama and he said and I quote word for word "Ill send you the tape"
Dont know why but that has always stayed with me.

College sports referees are some of the most useless bags of stupidity in existence
The #1 way to make pioneer mad.
The ref 50 feet away calls the foul when the ref 3 feet away doesn't call anything.

No one should ref a game if he wears glasses. My redneck take.

Not sure I believe that one. We had 22 turnovers but a ton were NOT forced.

i watched the first half and there were plenty of unforced errors.

The way to play that team is put Nelson on Knecht, force him out of the paint and make him shoot over a 6'11 guy. Double the post and make them a perimeter team.
Offensively stop dribbling so much move the damn ball. Pass with authority use pick and roll to get threes instead of layups.

The TO's were just horrible against Tenn. Looked like Griffen ? number 3 I think was passing the ball with his eyes closed.

THIS!!! Estrada and Sears are the worst at over dribbling. MOVE THE BALL.

Quinerly had 6 turnovers today vs Tulane, they don’t exactly have a Tennessee level defense.

We have a lot of good shooters. We weren’t able to beat the initial defender off the bounce to spray it to an open shooter. Our offense is so predicated on the ball handler getting to the paint that when we go against an elite defense, it makes it near impossible to do what we want to do.
100% accurate. It hurt even more yesterday because even when we did beat them off the dribble none of Tennessee's perimeter defenders were helping off because they had an elite rim protector in Aidoo to clean it up. It's what makes Grant finding his shot so incredibly important in games like this. Being able to stick him at the 5 and do more pick and pop actions would do wonders against teams like this. Takes the rim protector out of play.
I think you'll see a different result offensively in Coleman, because the whistle will have more of an effect on the way UT plays defense.
UT's defense is really good regardless, but when you allow the amount of hand-checking, grabbing, and hand-raking like they were allowed last night (and seem to have every time we play in Knoxville) it's hard for any offense to get going. Honestly, I don't know why every team doesn't play that style of defense (or at least during home games). I call it the "they won't call everything" or the "foul count equilibrium" defense.

Sears ankle obviously wasn't 100%, he wasn't as quick as he usually is. Hopefully he is closer to 100% vs Auburn.

Lol. He's apparently a 20 year old freshman from Bosnia. Maybe Oats needs to go recruit some euro ringers.
