The year was 2011.

In November, LSU was ranked #1, Alabama #2, and Arkansas #3.

LSU and Arkansas played, and Arkansas took a 14-0 lead early.

This is where LSU completely took over to blow them out 41-17.

Imagine for a moment if Arkansas wins this game.

They are an easy #2 after that game. Probably would have made it to the natty.

At that point , you would have had..

LSU over Bama
Bama over Arky
Arky over LSU

The 3 way tie rule in the SEC is convoluted. Several steps are taken, but had Arky won, they had a chance at least.

So hypothetically, Arkansas goes to Atlanta. That Georgia team was decent. Arky likely wins. And then what?

Arkansas vs LSU in the natty? Arkansas Bama in the natty?

The trajectory of that program almost solely hinged on that game . It's crazy to think about.

Would also like to add that Arkansas probably plays Bama better than LSU did.

It's really hard to beat teams of that caliber twice in a season.

Had you guys won, I think we'd be looking at a very different Arky

That game also brought us this classic moment.

I doubt it. They could've gone undefeated and won a natty in 2011 and Petrino is still getting fired that spring. You don't survive banging a former volleyball playing subordinate and a neck brace wearing press conference.

They still would've had interim John Smith in 2012, and they likely still hire Bilema in 2013. Its not like that hire was looked upon as a bad one at the time.

In this hypothetical, Arkansas needed to have Petrino wreck that motorcycle the day after that hypothetical BCS championship and have time to bring in a top name before the spring.

We lost TE Garrett Ukeman on November 21st. Died in his dorm playing video games. So the team was shook up and Petrino uncharacteristically showed a heart and was obviously in his feels. That's why he was pissed at Les for running up the score. It was a shitty weekend for Hog fans for multiple reasons.

He could have survived.

His reputation did him in.

LSU drops down to #3.

Bama jumps up to #1.

Arkansas jumps up to #2.

Bama goes to Atlanta.

They aren't letting Arkansas go to Atlanta over Bama.

They aren't beating Bama without Knile Davis.

Les really didn’t run up the score though. It was a close game going into the 4th quarter.

Petrino is a notorious piece of shite who probably didn’t give two fricks about the player and was more pissed off his team got beat straight up during his biggest coaching moment ever and a shot at the national title on the line

Conjecture is conjecture. Arkansas had a solid 2011 squad that lost both of its biggest games by 4 scores to 2 great teams in 2011 Bama and 2011 LSU.

They were a very good but not great team. The Bama and LSU squads they lost to by multiple touchdowns were LOADED with NFL talent. That Arkansas team had some very good college players but they would’ve easily been the least talented team to play for a national title in the 3 decades.

Honestly they were probably the 3rd best team in the country that year. They just had the misfortune of having the top 2 teams in their own division that beat the crap out of them. And the BCS had that dumb rule where you couldn't have more than 2 teams from the same conference in BCS bowls so the Sugar Bowl was a weird Virginia Tech/Michigan game.

Which speaking of that, how's this for a butterfly effect? If LSU and VT don't play in 2007, let's say they each play another rent a win instead. Sean Glennon plays the whole year. They benched Glennon for Tyrod Taylor after LSU pushed their shite in but got hurt a few games later and Glennon finished the year and still won all their games including the ACC CG rematch with Matt Ryan's BC. In this scenario Tyrod Taylor preserves his redshirt, and is eligible for 2011 and provides the offense to beat Clemson and they go undefeated. Also in 2007 LSU doesn't have head to head over VT and instead VT avenges the BC loss and makes the natty over LSU. VT plays Ohio State in the 2007 natty and LSU in the 2011 natty.

Instead they just got BCS appearances where they lost to Kansas and Michigan with Sean Glennon and Logan Thomas as QBs in those games

So Petrino’s cock is the reason Arky sucks?

It's the same thing that happened in 2008 in th big 12. Between Texas, Oklahoma, and Texas tech. Everyone beat each other but Oklahoma went to the ship. And Florida drubbed them.

It’s sad that we are talking Arkansas vs LSU in September.

Honey Badger is one of the most exciting college players to ever play the game. He was such a game changer. When he returned that punt for a TD, the game turned, and the avalanche ensued.

I typed that out, but envisioned myself reading it in a Hollywood dramatic voice.

The exact opposite. He had Wisconsin absolutely rolling and in constant contention for rose bowls. And I mean real contention for rose bowls, not simply winning the west contention for rose bowls.

I thought he would do the same at Arkansas and that he would create a punishing running attack that the SEC was seemingly trying to move away from. That didn’t happen though and I’m not quite sure why.
