Eli Gold

I listened to him. Like you said, it's obvious that he's not 100%, but I still enjoyed hearing his voice again.

Eli at 95% is still better than most others !

I listened on the way home from the dove field. It had been years since I heard a radio broadcast. He was pretty bad. Most plays I didn't know if they had been stopped behind the line of scrimmage or gained 30 yards. Just some mumbling and what was vaguely happening during the play. "Handoff... to his left, makes one man miss... wrapped up there..." Then awkward silence.

I'm thinking this season will be his "farewell tour." And I'm happy to see he's trying it this season, but he definitely needs to go out gracefully and let Chris take over full-time.

The first time I ever listened to Eli Gold call a game was sitting out on opening day of dove season. Still remember that day clear as hell because my dad bought us both those new-fangled swiveling bucket seats in camo pattern with all the outside pockets.

I thought I was hot shite with my 20 gauge.

Also the first day my dad introduced me to the "whirly-bird" method of taking care of doves that weren't already dead.

My first vivid memory of Eli was the Penn State block in the late 80s. Back when all games were not on TV and you had to catch some via radio. So I grew up listening to his voice.

I’ve always been a bigger basketball fan than football fan so I’ve been on the Chris Stewart bandwagon for the last 20 years as he’s called those games.

I agree with others, Eli deserves to go out in his own terms but he obviously needs to concentrate on his health as he is noticeably slipping during the broadcasts. A farewell tour and handing the reins over to Chris is the right thing to do.
