Yes he wanted to go to Arkansas but he needed a proven coach that has developed QBs.

Petrino was proven, Nutt couldn't keep the QB coaches long enough on his staff.

Nutt was looking at other jobs when the 2006 season was over. He found Ole Miss and agreed to be the coach before the 2007 season began.

From the outside looking in he always gave LSU fits so I always held him in high regard. I know it's different when he's your coach though. I hated Les but many liked him.

I remember when Nutt had to scramble around before national signing day, offering players out of nowhere.

Quite the contrast to how Sam recruits.

Nutt became the first head coach in Arkansas to survive back to back losing seasons since the 1950s.

After that his ego got way bigger.

Nutt should have been fired after the 2005 season.

He went 18-16 with McFadden and had first round draft picks on both sides of the ball.

I remember he had Felix Jones and McFadden on the bench as Nutt ran the ball four times and turned it over on downs.

Was that when Nutt joked he would put Mallett at TE?

Nutt could have had that average to 8 wins a year if he wasn't so stubborn regarding not giving up his OC duties and give it to a real OC.

Then he would get mad if he got criticism for not developing any QBs and double down.

Those kept his teams from being really good.

Nutt was on his way to board the plane to Nebraska when he was talked out of it. It was known a couple of bad seasons were coming because of sanctions that were put on the program that killed recruiting.

He could have easily left but stayed and endured those seasons and brought the program back up.

He could have ducked out but didn’t. He should have for his sake.

Nutt was a cancer. Had the state divided. He used his downhome Arkansawyer image to leverage raise after raise. He peaked his 1st season, and then he choked vs Tenner and State. (I know CS fumbled, but we should've never been in that situation, we were up 24-7 I think.)

Then,to top it off, after he "resigned to ol miss, the ptb let his staff... who was ALSO going to ol miss... coach the Hogs in a bowl game. They didn't want the Hogs recruiting off a big win so they tanked a bowl game to Mizzou and the Lil Tigers still get a wet spot in their panties every time they get to talk about beating McFadden in the Cotton Bowl. frick him, frick them and frick him again

Wrong.

Mallet was on record saying he wasn’t coming because of Nutt and him not developing QBs. Mallet could have come when Mustain left so Mustain had nothing to do with it

It happened each year that Nutt didn't do his own evaluations but instead offer a recruit once everyone else has offered.

Sam was much more aggressive with his evaluations and offers some of his recruits before other programs offer. He builds better relationships with these recruits.

Nutt picked the low hanging recruits such as the academic risks. He signed 37 at Ole Miss, many of which were never going to qualify and got Ole Miss in trouble.

He signed troubled recruits that many programs passed on and yet the discipline was bad on and off the field.

What does the transfer portal have to do with this?

Sam is just a superior recruiter because he has an idea of what he is doing and isn't lazy.

Regardless of what Mallett said, realistically he was never coming to Arkansas to an offense that hands the ball off on every down.

Mallett let his head make his decision.

Why would I go to a school that doesn't believe in the forward pass?

Dale let every QB on the bench play before he finally let Matt Jones get a snap.

Foundation is run by some fricked up individuals. Always has been, always will be.
They are scared in every way you could imagine, and even is some ways you couldn't.
They are like a soup sandwich. What kind of literal retards fire the winningest coach you have ever had because he was getting some on the side. Their ineptitude is so bad it is borderline criminal.
