The Crimson Tide of Alabama would like to officially apologize for snot-fricking Southern Cal so hard in 1946 that all Southern teams were banned from the game for the next 56 years.

Sorry.

It was an apology and it was predicated on the death of the PAC-12/Rose Bowl. It's modern history; try to keep up.

I feel horrible about Alabama effectively and decisively ending any chance or hope other Southern teams had of ever playing in the Rose Bowl for damn near 60 years.

Alabama is a son-of-a-bitch.

Isn’t it the Big Ten champ that plays in it too?

Why is it dead?
Maybe just lame AF but what else is new?

It will only survive, maybe, as a generic bowl game. I don't think there will be much draw for a "Rose Bowl" based on matchups between the Pac 2 or 3 vs. the Big 30.

As far as the CFB playoff contract, it ends for the Rose Bowl on Jan. 1st, 2026.

RB is NOT dead. It is still part of the CFP rotation of locations.

I'd like to apologize to Sewanee Tigers for beating them so hard in 1937 that they quit the conference three years later.

Bama has always loved playing in that stadium.

.” Both conferences openly admitted restricting the Rose Bowl, because they were tired of getting beaten by teams playing "hillbilly ball," the same reason they cited for not inviting them before 1920.”

Wikipedia meant to say joyless murderball.

The rose bowl hasn't really been alive since the 80's.

Somebody call the Bammers and tell them one of their inbred village idiots has escaped.

This Bammer clown is more intellectually stunted and deformed than King Charles II of Spain. His parents must have been fraternal twins sired and birthed by another set of twins.

Same contest here:

And a few years later, here is Bryant again. He likely destroyed Lana.

USC returned the favor years later by pounding Alabama 42-21 at Birmingham in 1970 and again at Legion Field in 1978. Bama is 6-2 all time vs the Trojans. The best match-ups in college football are the intersectional games-USC v Notre Dame, Ohio State v SEC, Penn State v USC/Alabama, etc.

To LSU fans there's only been one relevant year in the history of the sport.

maybe if you enjoy matchups that are incredibly and decidedly one-sided, then sure.

And Alabama returned that favor by shoving a wishbone down Southern Cal's throat in '71. What's your point?

Sure, Alabama vs. Ohio State and Alabama vs. Penn State are great ones but, you can't forget about Alabama vs. Washington.
