It was always nice to get that treat of a visit from athletics over there when I was in the band, I imagine this was just as special.

Harsin never visited the band.
I am 99% sure Gus never did either.
Freeze is slowly winning everyone over and I like it.
When people say Freeze is just like Bruce Pearl, I will think of things like this and agree with them.

Was just thinking that Freeze was taking a page from Bruce’s book

It wont help him win games. Which is all that matters. And maybe he was searching for some hot band chicks to escort cruits....
And I find it odd that a band insta video has no sound

Not shitting on anything
Y'all jacking off over a football coach visiting the band shows how desparate things have gotten

I would think the coolest thing about being famous or an important person is doing things like this. Taking a little bit of your time out of a day to make someone else feel better would be the highlight for me. Touring the children's hospital, going to the retirement home, visiting with service members, etc, etc, etc.

But it will garner attitude/respect from the students supporting, having the knowledge that who you are supporting wants to give you some of their time is priceless.
ETA: The video did have sound when I posted this originally, but they probably are going to make a longer video on YT or something with all of that maybe? so they want to save it for that, well then again when I click through again it does have sound...weird.

I'm with Lanier here.
The band members are blessed to get to meet Freeze, but we dont care about that shite. The band members arent going to care about that shite unless he kicks arse here.
I remember so fondly how the board loved that "real QB" caLzada attended an Auburn basketball game. The feelings came alive quickly

I'm in no way surprised spudmaster general never visited the band. I am however surprised that Gus never did especially in the first couple of years. Seems like something he would do. And there's really no reason any head coach at any school shouldn't. Hard to imagine CFB without the bands impact on the atmosphere.

Here’s my take, and I hear those saying it doesn’t matter unless he wins.
Many of the AU great coaches have connected with the student body and community. I’d say most, if not all, have realized the importance of it and I do believe it helps build an atmosphere that’s conducive to winning games on the field.
People today still talk about the speech Pat Dye gave on the Haley Concourse while standing on the brick wall before he ever coached a game at AU.
Does it directly lead to TD’s being scored and games being won? No, but I believe the last coach showed just how detrimental it can be to NOT engage with the student body nor the fans, boosters, faculty, etc. enough to gain some goodwill.
I truly believe it does mean something for the coach to take time like this, whether it be at Camp War Eagle for incoming freshmen or what have you. That’s part of the AU student experience and it’s pretty cool and likely unique if I had to guess.

That's fine. It's about winning. However, you and Lanier are wrong believing this shite doesn't matter.

Of course it matters dude, you're taking things too literal. It matters to the students and people around those students. But, heartfelt moments and cum ba ya only lasts so long these days. It is a different world than it was when Pat Dye saved Auburn
Gus Malzahn gave all of us some of the absolute best moments that any of us have experienced at Auburn fans. Sure there were great ones before but some of the things that happened during his tenure were things that none of us will remember our entire lives.
And why was he fired? No scandal, no team issues, no screwing a cheerleader. He was fired for NOT beating our rivals. NOT WINNING
Like it or not, students dont decide what coaches we keep. Others do unfortunately. And in todays times, winning is the most important thing to a lot of people and people who make or force those decisions to be made
You let the basketball program start to fall and see how much those Pizzas Bruce buys and how much his charm we all love so much matters any more.
People want to win these days. At whatever the cost. And if we are paying a head coach a big salary and he doesnt win, it wont matter how many cheers he leads or how many hands he shakes., He is going to be gone. We have already seen that.
So does it matter? Yes and No
But mostly NO

Freeze is smartly making his appearances. I am merely neutral and unemotional about them
We knew he would. That was the one thing that was sold to us that Kiffen wouldn't do. He has to win first and then appearances and all of that will kinda buttress his support from within.
You see how much support he has from Ole Miss fans. I think appearances speak more to his good judgement than his character.
