This end of year game is what we lost and had replaced with Mizzzzzou.

It fricking sucks and we hate it.

I can't speak for all LSU fans, we all seem to be divided on this issue. But I, for one, loved our Black Friday game and would love to see that return for our rivalry week. I don't discount TAMU but when they were in the SWC we used to open the season with them. I'd like to still be a permanent opponent against Aggie but I think Aggie/LSU should be each other's SEC opener to pay homage to that, and Aggie/Texas should be their Thanksgiving week game. The Boot I think was a good rivalry week thing we had going.

Just me though.

Wasn't Marcus Monk on those teams too?

Same, walking down from the rafters I felt the whole season going down the drain.
Was not a fun ride home.
Opposite ends of the spectrum compared to the elation of the Florida game results earlier that year.

Arkansas’s next game was a 38-7 arse whooping by Mizzou.

Don’t shoot the messenger. Just stating facts.

Arkansas lost the LSU and Florida games because of the awful QB play.

Robert Johnson started the season and he was terrible. Casey Dick hurt his back and couldn't play.

Mitch Mustain started some games but was pulled in favor of Casey Dick who ended up having one of the worst games as an Arkansas QB against LSU.

That was the beginning of the collapse with uncertainty at QB, a team can slow down the Arkansas rushing attack and make them throw. Which happened and the passing game was a blooper reel on TV.

Yes but he was hurt in 2007.

They also had Damian Williams but he transferred after the 2006 season to USC.

He ended up being a big loss as he ended up drafted in the third round.

I remember never understanding that decision. Mustain was undefeated and then they seemed to randomly go to Casey Dick and then they lost to LSU, Florida, and Wisconsin all in a row. Now granted those were the best 3 teams they played all year aside from Auburn and USC earlier but I never understood why they went away from a guy that hadn't lost yet. I still frankly don't. I also don't get why he transferred to USC when they had a stacked QB roster already, why didn't he go somewhere where he would be the bona fide starter? That whole situation is still very much head scratching to me. If anyone can clarify that, that would be awesome.

If it wasn't for Matt Jones and Darren McFadden, Nutt would have had a very short stay.

It also helps that he became the first head coach since the 50s to survive back to back losing seasons after screwing up a stacked 2003 team.

Then he flirts with the Nebraska job to get a raise from the dummies in Fayetteville.

He puts it on cruise control for the next two seasons until he seat begins to get hot entering the 2006 season.

Wins enough games to secure his job for the next year but ends the season on a three game losing streak.

Nutt looks for other jobs after the season and gets the Ole Miss Job before the 2007 season began.

He didn't care about his last season at Arkansas and thus wouldn't survive a talent depleted 2008 season from the massive departures and mismanaged recruiting.

Because Nutt in his refusal to believe in the forward pass and basic QB development was a work of art in itself to be that bad.

Nutt didn't like Mustain because of Malzahn. He felt that he was forced to hire him because he believed he could have been fired if he refused. Without Malzahn, he wouldn't get any of the highly recruited Springdale players.

Mustain should have done what Mallett did and went to a different school. It was a huge mistake going to Arkansas and get in the middle of the drama surrounding Nutt.

Mustain wasn't good but that is typical of a freshman. I could see he had more potential than Casey Dick but he wouldn't get the proper QB development under Nutt.

So when the time was right during the season and his QB Casey Dick was now healthy. He pulled Mustain out of the South Carolina game. He didn't need him anymore and had no plans to start him in the future.

Once that was done, Malzahn wasn't needed either and transferred to Tulsa after the season.

He went to USC because he believed they were much better at QB development but in his own words he wanted to get as far away from Arkansas as he could.

The harassment from the coaches, players, fans and other retards was too much and just wanted to get away from the drama.

His confidence I believe was destroyed and I think he picked USC on purpose get buried on the depth because the game was no longer fun anymore.

So he gave up and lost interest when left Arkansas.

I caught the fourth quarter as well as overtime because my family traditionally went to the Saturday vigil mass instead of the Sunday morning service. Absolutely insane football game.

LSU fans were ready to tar and feather Les Miles because they thought (just like everyone else) that losing to Arkansas cost them a shot at the national championship. Little did we know the insanity that would prevail the very next week all over the country...

Had to drive back to AZ in my RV thinking we had lost our shot.
But then chaos ensued and the last domino was WVU choking against Pitt and the world was right again.

The entire 2007 season was insane and also one of the best seasons of watching College Football. YouTube Video on the 2007 season.

There is a pretty good documentary on Amazon Prime that details how all of this went down. It's called, 'The Identity Theft of Mitch Mustain.' It does a great job of showing what kind of douchebags Houstin Nutt and Gus Malzahn really are.

It was a hard time, for sure.

Just think if Nutt got fired after the 2005 season and Butch Davis took the job. Sam Pittman could have been on the staff. Upgrade at OC and the forward pass would indeed exist.

The drama would cease and you no longer have a dysfunctional locker room caused by Nutt. Arkansas chances of going to a BCS title game would be very high.
