He seemed too relaxed. After ESPN questioned his legacy, thought he would come out swinging.

He doesn't need to defend himself against such insane ideas.

Latham and Turner seemed plenty fired up.

Saban has stated multiple times that he doesn't reflect on the past. I doubt he very much cares about his legacy at the present moment. That being said, anyone willing to question the legacy of a man who has accrued seven national championships and won over 80% of his games in a career spanning over three decades has a screw loose in their head.

I had the good fortune to meet Clyde Bolton (former sports writer for Bham news, when it was worth reading) several years ago and he made the same statement.

He said Mal invited him down there during the offseason between 2009/2010. He saw CNS and congratulated him on his championship and coach said thank you, but that was last years team, it has nothing to do with where we are and where we want to go.

He may not reflect on the past, but I still think he’s more comfortable coming off a “down” year.

Bill McCartney, whose Colorado squad won the national championship in 1990, started the next season by having all of the trophies the team had won, collectively and individually, thrown in the trash. He said that 91 was a new season and they wouldn't push themselves on to excellence by focusing on previous awards. That is what leadership is

And then they went 8-3-1, which probably had more to do with talent than anything else.

It is possible to relish an accomplishment and still work hard on the next one. I think coaches sometimes go too far in convincing players a successful season never happened.

Clearly, ESPN employees are illiterate.
