I know we aren't going to the final 4 or anything, but I have to think we'll finish higther than 13th. We were 11th last year in white's first season and look to have majorly upgraded the roster. Granted I know other people have upgraded too but it's hard to imagin that we would plummet int he standings after waht we brought in.

Did not expect LSU to be that high.

LSU was pretty high on preseason metrics last year too due to bringing in transfers with good numbers at the mid-major level. Torvik/KenPom predictive metrics still have a hard time in the new transfer era of projecting transfers who go up or down a level of play, and transfers in general.
I do like the makeup of LSU's team more this year, though. Cook is a very good player, Wright is a solid SEC player and Fountain flashed last year. Will need Ward and Collins to take next steps but it's a pretty decent core.

Agree - as I noted in my last post, the Torviks/KenPoms of the world are still trying to figure out how to integrate transfers.
I think this list has Florida (25-30ish), LSU (65-70ish) and Vanderbilt (100ish) too high and Arkansas (10-15ish), Missouri (45-50ish) and Georgia (60ish) too low.

So State, who returns everyone of note, who had a top 10 defense last year in the first year of a new season, whose only real weakness was no shooters so we grabbed two great ones from the portal and added a high 4* SG, who has renovated the Hump and put students courtside to create a stronger home court advantage, and who was a 5 seed in the tournament last year, will be worse according to these projections.
While I don't see us as top 10 going into the tournament, I'd gladly place money on us being top 25.

He (his formula) projects them to be much better offensively and better defensively.
2023 Mississippi State - #64 ovr, #186 off, #11 def (final Torvik numbers)
2024 Mississippi State - #33 ovr, #75 off, #7 def (projected Torvik numbers)
What tournament was State a 5 seed in? They finished #9 in the SEC and were an 11 seed in the NCAAT.
