I don't know. You tell me.

But at 6'4" and 230 lbs, Bowers is a hair shorter and about 20-25 lbs lighter than your average NFL TE. He's a tweener.

So you post half truths.

He's also faster, more explosive, and stronger.

The goal of being a first round tight end "is not" to be your average tight end.
Why would any team draft your average tight end in the first round?

The average size of the top NFL TE's is 6'5", 250 lbs.

That is their NFL weight though, many were a bit lighter in college.

I'm guessing after a year in the NFL, Bowers will be 240-245, which is appropriate given him being an inch shorter.

The top TE taken in this past draft was 6-3, 245 and ran a 4.59.

Bowers has reportedly clocked a 4.48 in the 40. If that's accurate, that makes him faster than WR's like Cedric Tillman and Jordan Addison.

Tweener has a negative connotation. Another way to say it is that he's got the capability to line up at WR, RB, TE and FB and play at a NFL level at any of those positions. Maybe not the best blocking TE or FB or fastest RB or WR, but he can play at the level expected at the NFL for all of those spots.

Wesley Walls is a great comparable for him in terms of versatility, and he was the last guy I remember really playing as a jack of all trades TE. He was 6'5", but a bit lighter than other TE's (240). He didn't have nearly the speed though.

Average NFL TE is 6'4.5 and 248.65 lbs. (25% are 6'6 or taller)

There are currently 4 TEs on NFL rosters under 230 lbs.

So, Bowers' size isn't unheard of...but he will be in the lower quadrant of TE's in weight and just average in height.
