This ends at 20. Book it. And I think it could work well there and preserve a ton of rivalries if the conference doesn’t bungle it. 4 permanent rivals + 5 rotating games. Would UGA fans be that mad about playing Auburn, Florida, South Carolina, and one of Kentucky/Vandy/Tennessee annually?
Honestly, it would fix a lot of the current problems to do this - a school like Mizzou that UGA fans don’t want as an annual rival could play OU, Arkansas, Texas, and Vanderbilt annually. No more Mizzou in the SEC East.

Put Bama and Auburn in the East and formalize the divisional split from a schedule standpoint, but enter into an agreement to share bowl revenue and negotiate media contracts as a block.
Then play a seven game schedule with three P5 game requirements. One of those three must come from the sister conference but all three can't. Wins/Losses against the sister conference don't count towards winning your conference unless there's a tie and the cross conference opponents are within two positions of each other in that conference's ranking.
Or bring in some of these other schools and make it 8&2.
Alabama, Georgia, and Florida are ballasted by LSU, Texas, & Oklahoma.
Auburn and Tennessee by A&M and whichever of the Arkanssippi schools decide they want to actually be good that year. There's usually at least one.

The goal is to get to super conferences and the SEC is leading the way. Thrn you can have a more NFL like system. I would not be surprised if the NFL is behind these moves

I hope we don't expand again but I'm pretty certain we will, and I think UNC will be the top target.
