It should be across all pro sports but the NFL and NBA especially that player’s complete 4 years of school before they become draft eligible. A lot of these star players need to develop mentally more than anything else. Making players stay in school for 4 years may not guarantee a player will be more mature and make good decisions when they finally become a professional ball player but it certainly can’t hurt either.
Todays players are not as mature as the guys that played 60 years ago. That’s why you have players like that idiot from the Memphis Grizzlies that keeps flashing guns in his social media posts. Players today need time to mature and develop mentally and emotionally every bit as much as they need to develop as athletes.

Yep. Basketball players should be forced to stay in Tuscaloosa for 4 years to mature under Nate Oats. I’m sure it will do wonders for them.

I hate to ruin things for you because I know you think you just got one over on me and patting yourself on the back for such a great burn but you happen to be talking to the one Bama fan that not only would have suspended Miller but I would have kicked his sorry arse off the team. That is the 100% truth.
Miller is not worth the damage and black eye he caused to the school and the team I don’t care if he is the second coming of MJ. Now he is off to the NBA to make his millions while Alabama is left to clean up the mess he caused with his poor decisions.

Not everyone is college ready for the education part coming out of high school. In fact, many may not be fit for a college education period. Should that disqualify them from being able to pursue a professional career in basketball or any other sport?

Yeah, hard not to wish someone well if he thinks he can make it, but at least IMO, he should've come back.
Combine that with (almost) an entirely new staff, and our outlook for next year just became even more uncertain. Should be interesting.

Knocking 4 years off an elite professional athlete's career by forcing them to play at the amateur level certainly can hurt to the tune of millions of dollars lost.

You’re right, no college should be necessary for any job. Not doctors or teachers or paramedics or nurses or policemen or firemen. Making these people go to school to do their jobs professionally is unfair and racist
