That's because the current generation does not realize just what Nebraska was. All that hype on Miami as The U, and the Florida State talk, about the 80's and 90's... Nebraska was still a very big dog then. And they had been, for decades beforehand.

People can laugh at us if they want, but when LSU played Nebraska in the Orange and 2 Sugars in the 80's, we lost; but a lot of people were proud we "played them well".
You hoped to win but didn't expect it, the fear was they were gonna roll all over your arse.

For older people, it's still somewhat of a shock to put together a Top 10 (nevermind top 25) without them. They were perennial, and they were for real. They'd blow out other top teams like it was a cupcake game.
