Football titles are not counted at all. They’re not NCAA titles.

The 2 football and 6 equestrian titles aren't recognized NCAA championships.

What makes a championship recognizable to the NCAA?

That was the requirement eliminating equestrian titles. Ncaa d1/fbs football just doesn’t do team titles the way other sports have.

The NCAA doesn't sponsor & organize the FBS' means of crowning a champion. Everything else associated with FBS football is NCAA sanctioned, for now.
