AI & College Football

Given that AI can consume every hour of film, injury history, games coached, plays called, opponent scheduled, GPS tracker, weather forecast, etc., and then script out an entire game plan each week, how long before it’s running the sport entirely?
I know it’s early, but I’d bet schools are rushing to implement it in their programs. I say 3-5 years based on how quickly it’s developed already. Coaching will become managing egos, making sure NIL $$$ is strong & following the formula given.
Anybody hearing anything on this front?

And let me add, analytics are already a huge part of the game. The game changer here is that this would combine all the siloed analytics into a cohesive whole.

It will change everything. Most people do not comprehend what is about to happen. It’s not a search engine. It’s essentially the birth of a new type of species that is 100,000 times smarter than us. At birth. Everything is going to change and it’s not fiction and it’s not an exaggeration.

Ought to be a way to make a buck or two off it...I ain't near smart enough because had someone told me a website that was originally a "fancy hit it or quit it" game (Facebook) would make someone a gazzilionaire I would have said they person making those claims was a fool...

Exactly. It can essentially replace your entire staff (dietitians, S&C, scouting, playcalling, etc) and do a better job than all of them combined on day 1.
Whoever doesn’t start leaning on it very heavy right away is going to fall WAY behind.

More ways than I can even think of. If you are already an ambitious person that wants to make money and are a doer, Ai will you a fortune on top of what you would have already done

This is all 100% true and that truth is a train moving at 500 miles per hour. Ai is a tipping point.

I'm much less concerned about AI in football than AI destroying civilization.

Well, there’s that too I guess.

Jimbo said in his most recent press conference:
“An out’s an out. A dig’s a dig. Ain’t no AI ever played ball. Unless you’re talking about Allen Iverson. He knew ball. We actually recruited him back when I was at Auburn. Incredible athlete.”

How long?
Napier talked up his logistics tracker when he arrived at Florida.
It reminds me of a few sports announcers who would talk up a program when all of their starters were returning.
The only problem was that they were all pretty average players in the first place.

This is that times 1,000.
How does an inch of rain in the forecast on Friday impact your Tuesday install? What length cleat should each position bring for sandy loam/Bermuda combo? How can you predict if that 10th grader is going to lengthen out enough to be a 3-4 edge? What route in the history of football is a nickel with a nagging high ankle most susceptible too? What’s in a kids social media profile that tells you how to best recruit him?
AI can see and factor in all of that in real time.

In the year, 2025...
Can already hear the broken robotic voice at the presser, "But...it said, go for it on 4th down and 8 yards from own 33..."

Exactly, especially when ELIEZER YUDKOWSKY the leading decision theorist from the U.S. who leads research at the Machine Intelligence Research Institute who has been working on aligning Artificial General Intelligence since 2001 and is widely regarded as a founder of the field, writes an article saying AI research should be disbanded. He is stating that all further research into AI should be stopped now, PERIOD! He makes this statement:
"Many researchers steeped in these issues, including myself, expect that the most likely result of building a superhumanly smart AI, under anything remotely like the current circumstances, is that literally everyone on Earth will die. Not as in “maybe possibly some remote chance,” but as in “that is the obvious thing that would happen.” It’s not that you can’t, in principle, survive creating something much smarter than you; it’s that it would require precision and preparation and new scientific insights, and probably not having AI systems composed of giant inscrutable arrays of fractional numbers."

Also, isn’t that the very definition of quantum computing? Giant inscrutable arrays of fractional numbers?

Jimbo doesn’t believe in that. A drag is a drag.

The bottom line is that the people developing it don't completely understand how it actually works and can't predict it. The bottom line is , don't develop something this power that cannot be predicted or restricted.
