This dude has been one of the more under-appreciated/overlooked players in the Saban era.

He is going into year 14 and will be an unrestricted free agent.

14 years is a LONG time. When he joined the NFL, they were still wearing Reebok jerseys. He even played two years with DeMeco Ryans in Houston.

He mentioned on Good Morning Football that he has a goal to play 15 years in the NFL. 15 years is a GREAT career in the NFL.

Hope he achieves his goal!

I appreciated watching him intercept Eric Ainge twice in 2007 in Tuscaloosa when we whipped UT. I think he was a freshman.

I’ve always felt he never got truly appreciated, had a great career at Bama and has thrived in the NFL as a corner and now a safety

Sucks the way he went out vs Utah. Him and the rest of the defense looked like scrubs lol. But he's become a tremendous pro. Very happy for him

Kareem was a Saban discoverey in his first recruiting class. He was committed somewhere else, was a lesser known player but Saban saw his potential and reeled him in.

He went to a military prep school for a year after high school but that didn't count against his eligibility. IIRC, he came on a visit within days of CNS taking the job and committed, enrolled, and started classes all the same week.

Am I wrong or was he one of the first players CNS thought left too early (I believe it was said the people he talked to in the NFL said he was a second rounder) but obviously Houston took him in the first?
