Taking it seriously?

Nate Oats and Alabama continue to make this situation worse.

quote:

Oats was asked about people outside of the program calling for Alabama to punish Miller. “We’ve been taking it very seriously since day one,” Oats said, per AL.com. “The first minute I got the information, I called Greg (Bryne) and we talked about it, have known the severity of it. Greg, I thought, did a great job addressing those comments on Wednesday. I don’t really have much else to add to it. I feel like we’ve done the right thing in this case. I’m gonna leave it at that.”

quote:

Oats shared that the team has met with university crisis management officials and counselors since the incident happened on Jan. 15.

Didn’t 3 Bama players were part of causing the grief of a young woman being murdered?

quote:

It’s a sad situation but our players responding to people in other arenas doesn’t help the situation out at all,” Oats said. “So I think the team is doing a great job doing what we’re asking them do. We’re asking them to stay focused on basketball.”

Four. I thought it was three as well but apparently there was another player in the car.

Four players on a basketball team involved in a murder is beyond scandalous and more than enough to get not only everyone suspended but often the coach fired. I honestly don't understand how anyone can convince themselves that this is no big deal. Murder is the biggest deal of all.

So the University can investigate the feelings of its players but not the culpability of those involved with the murder.

Oats has done enough to be criticized during this, but this is kind of a stretch to get your panties ruffled about. I would think the rest of the team not involved in the murder could use some crisis management and/or counseling.

Is Bama trying to help their players cope with excusing criminals on their team?

"Hey! I know it's Ted Bundy, but he can ball and everything is going to be OK".

Now that was a horrible look and decision by Oats. How could he not see how that would be viewed by the rest of the country?

Would think the Harris family and her 5 year old son needs the counseling the most!

How many violent acts against women have been allowed by UA Athletics just over this academic year? 2, 3, more?!?!?

So would I. I don't think the Alabama basketball team is preventing that from happening by seeing a counselor themselves though.

How about the Bama Basketball program provide that service to the family?

Oats is too busy worrying about his team being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Just saying.

Maybe they have. This is just an odd thing to get so pissed off about relating to the rest of this story. Not everyone on the team was involved; maybe there are some kids on the team who think it's fricked up they've been playing and sharing a locker room with people capable of being involved in a murder.

Darius Miles probably should've gotten some counseling before he decided to murder someone for not fricking around with his boy.

But I'm gonna digress.
