So....he was an accessory to murder. He brought the gun to the scene

That’s not how it works, thankfully.

I think the semi-buried part of that which they want out is the idea that he may or may not have seen the text and was already en route with the gun already in the back seat, thus he wasn't "bringing" the gun purposefully to a gunfight.
Of course, that's an attorney-drafted statement that is precisely the type of characterization you'd expect if you're trying to gloss over or minimize your client's knowledge that a criminal act was likely.
On one hand, if there is evidence to support that insinuation, it would play into the narrative that the DA reasonable just couldn't get over the line to charge him as a series of coincidences made his role look more involved than it was.
On the other hand, criminal defense attorneys do criminal defense attorney things and nobody should ever believe their characterization of anything.

And his lawyer conveniently left out the wording of the text sent from Miles to Miller definitely stating there was some s*** going down and that's why he needed the gun. Miller still made an astoundingly poor decision to deliver that gun after receiving a text like that.

If you took the thugs (see Brandon Miller, Darius Miles, etc.) out of big time college athletics, you'd be left with intramural caliber sports. Universities should never have become the minor league systems for professional leagues. Most of these guys have neither the intelligence nor the inclination to make genuine academic use of their scholarships and would have never stepped onto a college campus had it not been for their athletic ability. Instead, they'd be shooting each other on the mean streets of some US city.
