I can't understand why CBS decided to give the BIG10 all of that money and drop the SEC. Anyone know why?
The people at CBS know what they are doing. They have the best people to advise them who study this shite and know their audience.
They studied it and saw that the B1G was the better brand and would not only bring them a bigger audience but also a better audience with more money to spend on advertisements.
The B1G has locked down a nationwide audience and is in a mood to expand.

Yep. The onfield results prove it.

The Midwest is a terrible region in which the only source of entertainment during your eight-month winters include watching television.
Thus, while we're boating, golfing, riding, dining outdoors, etc. in February, B10 Midwestern rubes are gulping Bud Light and confined to their couches.
Thus, despite having a dying population, B10 country still gets more eyeballs on the TV. That will likely continue despite the fact that the B10 is incapable of winning championships, with the exception of Ohio State (the SEC's official bitch, courtesy of UGA, Bama, UF, and LSU).
Also, given the South's superiority in higher education, we also split our region's fandom with the ACC.
The Big Ten doesn't suffer that problem - their shitty Midwestern public schools in the B10 dominate state fandoms, with the only competition being the MAC.
