MIZ-LOU is a new collective in St Louis that already has around 30 members each pledging $20,000. The plan is to focus on kids from St Louis and expanding it to KC, Dallas, and Chicago.

This has more to do with Gates than Drink. Gates has helped build excitement with donors. Mizzou was a basketball 1st school until Norm retired. Gates is getting donors that remembers the 80’s and 90’s basketball teams.

St. Louis focus In St. Louis, a core of Mizzou boosters has formed a grassroots extension of ETTF they’ve called MIZ- LOU. Led by alumnus Phillip Bender, the group has grown to around 30 donors committed to pledging $20,000 annually toward NIL deals for MU athletes from the St. Louis area. Their goal, Garner said, is to reach 100 members, which would amount to $2 million per year toward the collective.

MIZ-LOU part of the article is close to bottom.

NIL will eventually mirror endowments
GENERALLY, schools which have deep pocket alumni funding endowments will also give to NIL. That's a good thing for Mizzou and will be bad for the rest of the SEC not named Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, UGA, Florida, Tennessee and us.

I’m not sure exactly how much each university pays out and these numbers could be off.

When Oklahoma and Texas join the SEC Mizzou will be 7th in endowment. Texas just past Harvard for #1. Mizzou’s endowment went down by .8%, but had increase last year of around 30%.

How OU distributes their endowment will be down for each department, because the school is $1 billion in debt.

Numbers may be a little off
Endowments in billions
1. Texas $53
2. A&M $18.
3. Vandy 10.9
4. OU $2.7
5. Florida $2.4
6. Arkansas $2.2
7. Mizzou $2.1
8. UK $1.98
9. UGA $1.82
10. UT $1.3
11. Auburn $1.1
11. Alabama $1.1
13. South Carolina $0.98
14. Ole Miss $0.8
15. MState $0.7
15. LSU $0.7

Given how crazy the cajuns are for all things LSU... how on Earth is their endowment that low?

There's no money in that state, and their academic graduates don't make a lot of money either.

Texas has oil money, and Vandy has intellectual property, so to speak.

In 10 years Arkansas should be around $4 to $5 billion if the Walton’s keep giving money. In 2018 the endowment was around $880 million

In 2002 the Walton’s gave a gift of $300 million. In 2020 they gave a gift of $196 million spread out over 5 years. A lot of funds are designated to certain departments, but the interest will probably be spread out into each department. They have given smaller gifts for a few decades.

Aren't the Waltons donating to Missouri as well? Obviously with Sam being a graduate of Missouri they have a fondness for the school and I think I recall one of his kids lives in the area.

Most of the donation’s are from Bud’s side of the family. Stan Kreonke and Bill Laurie are both married to Bud’s daughter’s.

Kroenke graduated from Mizzou and his son played basketball at Mizzou. The Laurie’s donate more to Mizzou even though they both went to Memphis. He was the starting point guard on the team that lost to UCLA in the National Championship. Bill’s brother Barry and nephew both played for Mizzou.

The Laurie’s donated $25 million for Mizzou Arena(initially named after his daughter). They also endowed the E. Paige Laurie Professorship for the Equine Center at the College of Veterinary Medicine(named after his daughter). If there is something donated by anonymous it is usually by the Laurie’s. Anonymous donated $10 million to the Mizzou Football team for the indoor football facility.

The Laurie’s also donate a lot of money to the Memphis sports programs.

The Walton Family Foundation distributes almost all of Sam’s money. Mizzou doesn’t get much money from the WFF, because none of the family has ties to Mizzou.

Sam was one of Mizzou’s biggest donor’s in the early 90’s. One of his donations established The Walton Scholars program in 1992 with a $3 million donation. A donation from the WFF in 2021 for $1.4 million is one of the few we have got since Sam died.

Like most Mizzou fan’s Bill does not like Stan. Bill bought the Denver Nuggets for $400 million and started making moves and decisions. Then he was back doored by Stan. The team was put back on the market and Stan paid $450 million a few months later. Rumor is Stan has blocked Bill from buying the Grizzlies and the Hornets(Pelicans).

I can tell you that 10 million for the Practice facility did NOT come from the Lauries. Anonymous the last few years has often been the owners of the outfit I'm working for. They had a big chunk of the end zone facility as well.
