I feel like if that Oklahoma game never happened, Alabama would end up probably like usual

As much as I love Nate, I think the Oklahoma game will in the long run be great for the team. Teaches them a great valuable lesson about how bad you actually are when you don’t play at your best. When you have that time to refocus and understand what’s at stake instead of just going through on autopilot, I feel like a lot of Alabama’s best football teams usually had that happen to them. I’ll always consider 2015 Alabama’s best football team by a wide margin.
I’m not saying basketball goes undefeated from here on out. That would be unrealistic. But, I do believe the product and statistics we see on the court will reflect more of a championship team. And if we lose? Well, that team was just better on that day and outplayed Alabama. No more to say about it than that.
Roll Tide.

I think that’s all we can hope for that this was a needed wake up call.

I think February just got here a little early.

I’m afraid OU showed the way for future opponents to exploit weaknesses. It started with State; however State couldn’t make shots that OU could.

I'm concerned with our inability to stay in front of dribblers.. Like you said, MS did it too, they just couldn't finish.

Right now Alabama is a team that has lost some of its swagger. You knew at halftime Saturday that this team wasn’t coming back. The team as a whole is not hitting threes. They are struggling with put-backs and layups. They are scared on defense of picking up fouls. Right now they are not very confident and everything feels hazy and very sped-up to them.
Basketball skills are a lot like golf. If a player lacks confidence, or has doubts or is overthinking things, it will throw off the fine motor skills needed to perform. It’s called the yips.
The good thing is that teams can work their way out of the yips, and there is plenty of time to do so before post season.
The other good thing is that this team is good enough to still win a lot of games even when playing poorly.
Most every good or even great team will have a period in which they don’t play their best. Many will take a number of losses, see Kansas. There’s things happen. How the coaches build off of it will make all of the difference. We will see what Oats is made of here.
And, we also need to work on being better against teams that match our length, press us out past the three point line and who are physical in the paint. We may have to give in and start shooting some mid-range jumpers to force teams to back off of the three point line and to come out from around the basket.
Also. What the heck with Clowney getting a 3 second lane violation? Is that even a rule anymore? When is the last time that was called? 1988?

Lol I said the exact same during the game. Didn’t like the flop calls either. That’s what I expect as home court advantage though.
I didn’t like us getting pushed around repeatedly though. Gotta get tougher with finesse.

Unlike last season Im confident we can come out of this slump as I think this team has more swagger. I'm not too concerned about that just yet. I'm just hoping they come out of it before we play AU and TN. Really need those wins if we want to win the SEC.
By the way, what is with the Alabama athletic department crapping the bed against Oklahoma every time we play them in a sport? I think the only scoreboard we own on them is football from 2018. It feels like they have our number in everything though.

Didn't we beat them the year we had Colin Sexton and they had Trae Young?

Yes but they've beaten us twice since that game. I know it wasn't that long ago but still

We typically don't perform well against Oklahoma and Notre Dame in sports not named football.
I was dreading this game for awhile.

I think it was actually Bediako but I agree - I saw us get a 3 second violation and a double dribble called in one half. Haven't seen either in a game in quite a while.

Bama beat OU in a winner-take-all game for softball NC.
Smoked OU in the only meaningful football game they've played in the 2018 playoffs.
So, when it matters the most Alabama is 2-0 vs OU.
