LSU wasn’t close to a top 5 team last year. Paper Tigers. Downvote away LSU fans.

Probably more around the #10 range.

The starters are pretty good but the team had very little quality depth, they really wore down late in the season.

Ranked #5 in the playoff poll, going into the A&M game. It is what it is, but saying it didn't happen is silly.

Now then, I think we might have a candidate: South Carolina. Here's their schedule:
quote:

Sat, Sep 2* @ North Carolina TBD
Sat, Sep 9 vs Furman TBD
Sat, Sep 16 @ Georgia TBD
Sat, Sep 23 vs Mississippi St TBD
Sat, Sep 30 @ Tennessee TBD
Sat, Oct 14 vs Florida TBD
Sat, Oct 21 @ Missouri TBD
Sat, Oct 28 @ Texas A&M TBD

So, the Gamecocks return Rattler. Beating UNC is doable, and could earn them some recognition. At UGA, yuck... but let's say they keep it close; and UGA will be breaking in a new QB.
Miss State is in transition. Tennessee... smells like a revenge game, but UT will still be a different team than this year. Let's say possible. Fla and Mizzou, if you're ranked, you should beat them.

Could be rolling into the A&M game with a good record and a hot name at QB.
