Y’all wild as hell for celebrating losing this:

Alabama finished with the No. 13 scoring defense in 2019 (18.6 points per game) and 2020 (19.4), No. 18 in 2021 (20.1) and No. 9 in 2022 (18.0).

QRD on what we are getting in Golding and why y’all hate him?

13th sounds great to someone who is used to being 30th

13th, when coupled with being more like 75th against every competent offense you play, is fireable when you are used to being #1-3 and have a roster full of elite talent comparable to the units that were #1-3

Pros : Great recruiter, from what we know very smart football guy, works his arse off, Saban loves him

Cons : Seems to implement the most bizarre blitzes you've ever seen at the worst possible times, worst ILB position coach we've had in the Saban era, hasn't seemed to have gotten any better since 2019 and his defenses routinely melt down in the biggest possible moments. He gets a bit of a pass on a few elements of it as the talent on defense is not quite what it was at certain spots (DT, ILB). But, his defense this season was one of the most underachieving units I've seen at Alabama in 20 years.

He did that with the most talent in the country, and the GOAT holding his hand. I, personally, think he'll be pretty bad at OM. Either way, Bama can and should have a better DC.

Alabama wins 75% of their games on the national signing days. Especially on defense, pure talent advantage should result in an adequate unit by statistical measurements.

The problem with Golding is any team Alabama has played under his watch with a decent offensive coordinator and good talent has hosed them. Mike Leach’s (RIP) 5 play offense is about the only scheme he had a decent handle on. To be sure, his playcalling style and scheme seems to be ideal for an opponent that isn’t committed to run-pass balance.
