Tech should demand the same deal.
California system regent's requirement for UCLA's move to B10

11. The President will return to the Regents at a future meeting, after Pac-12 media
agreements are finalized, with a recommendation for a contribution by UCLA to the
Berkeley campus in the range of $2 million to $5 million, to be used to enhance studentathlete support at that campus. Such recommendation will be based on the best available
information on projected revenues for both campuses.

This reads like communism. UnAmerican really.

Well, we're talking about Univ. of California-Berkeley after all, right? Lol

Well it is California. No surprise it's communist and unAmericam.

I get the sentiment, but no, not at all
UCLA is part of the University of California system - the state requiring a buyout for a school to change conferences, a move that will cause financial harm to other schools in the same system actually seems reasonable
hell; I was actually hoping that California would shut the move down altogether
remember when Virginia stepped in on behalf of VA Tech with the ACC? This feels very similar...

The good old "C" word, thrown out like candy on Halloween.
Quick question – how can the California Board of Regents (the government) punish UCLA and not USC? What's the one big difference between USC and UCLA, aside from the fact that ones mascot is a Trojan and the other a Bruin?

Not sure if further details include this or not, but it’s interesting it only seems to be going to Berkeley. I understand they’re the only other PAC 12 school in the UC system but what about the other 7 schools? They don’t get a part of UCLA’s cut?

Ummm.... ucla is a state school and usc is private? Its pretty fvcking easy to see the difference in this situation.

I fricking hate socialism

It’s similar but Virginia stepped in to keep vt from being left behind in a crumbling and on the verge of extinct big east. UVA helped vt. Cal is stepping in to hurt UCLA’s future to protect its own

Well, apparently it was lost on quite a few people here. Some OPs were equating moving government funding around from one government-operated college to the next government-operated college to socialism and communism lol.
