“One thing that I would add to this whole playoff conversation as to who gets in, who doesn’t get in, I guess I would ask the question: If we played these teams in question, would we be underdogs or not?” Saban said. “And that should answer everybody’s questions relative to who the best teams are at present. That’s how this should sort of play out.

He's not wrong. I'm not arguing we deserve to be in. Had we handled our business we wouldn't be having this conversation. That being said if you want the most competitive playoff with less chance of a 1st round blowout then TCU shouldn't be in.

Hey, Coach Saban, was Bama an underdog to Tennessee and LSU?

Coach Saban will be interviewed at the half of the B1G game on fox, they just reported. Some may be interested.

Fair point. But would Bama have been an underdog to Tenn/The Refs?

Bama screwed up more than the refs did.

Hey TidalSurge was Bama's QB injured when they lost on the last play to both tenn and LSU?

Follow up question, is that Heisman winning QB still injured now?

So does our Texas win not count? Because that’s our best win, and it only came because TU lost their starting QB.

Was Bryce Young's injury the reason Tennessee scored over 50 points on Bama?

I am in this camp. Would be cool to make it, but Alabama does not deserve to be in this year.

Getting in the playoff won’t fix any of the numerous issues the team has shown this year.

We have not looked like a championship quality team at any point this season.

Saban should be focusing on that rather than embarrassing himself with this groveling to the committee.

Losing to 2 of your 3 biggest rivals is a failure - no other way to slice it regardless of what some gray hairs in a board room decide.

I'll say this. Anyone would expect their coach to politic to get the team into playoffs.

The pairings also play a role. The committee knows it isnt good to put Michigan 2 osu 3 and have them play again so soon. Does that put tcu to 3 even though they lost? I don't believe so. Ratings are the driving force as without ratings there is no money.

A better ticket for ratings is
1 Georgia
2 meeeeechigan
3 Bama
4 osu/TCU

Didn't realize LSU was a rival.

Bama beat their biggest rival and lost to their other rival after 15 straight years of beating them. That streak was always going to end at some point.

No, but it's why Bama didn't score 80 on Tennessee. And with our offense controlling the ball more, yeah, maybe Tennessee wouldn't have scored 50 points. I get what you're saying, we had issues on defense. But we had issues on defense in 2020 that Mac Jones and company covered for.

I'm not arguing against Bama getting in. I'm stating some reasons I think Bama won't get in.

ETA: I could be wrong. Maybe the committee will surprise me.

Because I don't want to see us get manhandled by Georgia.

I'd rather sit this season out, get new coordinators and take a stab at them next year. Although I'll concede Michigan, OSU and TCU will prove they don't belong either after Georgia beats them by 60.
