We won a Natty with Cam. Rest of the team was AVERAGE.
Bama would have 5 losses without Bryce this year.
Dabo won his 2 Nattys with Watson & Lawrence
Look at USC, they were bad last year, Riley brings Caleb Williams and BAM
Look at USCe, they are on a nice run (Vs Tenn & Clem) with Rattler killing it
All this to say, RA has HUGE upside. We are a QB whisperer and OL away.

that dime he dropped into the corner of the endzone last weekend was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. it really changed my mind on him long-term.

I agree but without a decent OL they have to be ELITE. Can’t merely be very good. Elite QB can be the great equalizer. Similarly on defense, an elite pass rush can solve a lot of issues.

quote:Let's not hide this... this also isn't easy to fix. You have to have an extremely good to elite RUNNING QB without a really good Oline. So you can move the pocket and do stuff to slow down the pass rush.
and OL away.
quote:This is painfully untrue. Cam took that team from a ~2 loss team to a title team. We had NFL linemen on both sides of the ball - both offensive tackles were drafted and at least 4 defensive linemen in the rotation ended up drafted. We were solid to really good at pretty much every position and had future professionals in every position group. We could rush 3 and get QB pressure all year. Fairley was a as important to the GA win as Cam was.

There were probably 3 other SEC teams that win it all with Cam that year honestly, but calling the rest of the team average is untrue that wasn't an 7-5 or 8-4 type of team.

Did anyone other than Mosely play long in NFL in offensive line?
Bynes is still playing from the defense.
Bates played a long time.
Others from 2010?
I was a big Darvin Adams fan. He got to practice squads, but never quite made it.
For whatever reason, I was struck by the raw talent of Mario Fannin, but
What other guys from 2010 played in NFL?
Josh Harris is still playing as a snapper.
Did he sort of become what many though Dax Dellenbach would be?

One plus for Freeze is he could probably develope RA. RA was starting to show some signs of improvement late.

I honestly think it’s easier and more effective to focus on Oline/Dline.
Very hard to find those great QBs that can carry you all the time and recruit them consistently.
A lot more Oline out there and it’s easier to find/teach them. A great Oline can make the rest of your offense look great.
I think a mistake a lot of NFL teams make is drafting their Franchise QB before suring up their Oline. See Cowboys/Eagles for an example of making an Average QB good.
