That would be a stupid standard. Cops can barely graduate highschool let alone determine guilt or be expected to know and understand the law.....

I'm with Harry Rex Ryan.
Pittman showing his low IQ, learn on the job PR moves again.
Just like he said after getting embarrassed by Mizzou.

Refreshing to not hear coach speak though. Wouldn't call a close game an embarrassment. Georgia didn't get out of there easy at all.

Agree, but Arkansas law enforcement proves damn near every day that they think they are the law, rather than being entrusted to enforce the law, which requires them to actually know and understand the law.
Look at Act 746. Arkansas has been a constitutional carry state for almost a decade, but it took a homegrown gun rights group putting a bounty on law enforcement and defending people in court to get cops to quit arresting people for carrying a weapon, when it was their right to do so. Hell, we still have issues with some law enforcement on it.
Look at the First Amendment audit people, and the harassment they get in Arkansas over constitutionally protected activity. We do a piss poor job of requiring knowledge and understanding of the law, by law enforcement in this state.

Didnt play college sports, but our coaches growing up ALWAYS said the same thing. As athletes of the ______ football/basketball team, you're held to a higher standard and will be punished accordingly. If the law doesn't, the coach/school will. "nothing good happens after midnight" was preached to us every friday after games.
Im sure Pittman was being old school with this thing, like everything else about him.
Unfortunately this generation isn't equipped to deal with public humiliation very well. They also don't seem to take personal responsibility at times.

I would agree with all of that, but it was the cop who escalated the situation by going hands on. There was no need for that, especially when there were dozens of people still in the street. Why go hands on to a guy two feet from the sidewalk?

I'm basing that statement off typical job requirements to become local law enforcement as well as their role in the judicial system.
Also it's not required for cops to know the actual law and interpret it properly. That's a different segment. This is why you see all those obnoxious audit people getting charges dropped and officers in trouble.

This may be the case, but if so, I don't see how that is acceptable. Lawyers and judges are supposed to educate law enforcement on the law, at the expense of the public, while enjoying immunity from prosecution? The people they are arresting can have life changing consequences over an arrest that is absolutely an abuse of power.

Lots of on the job training from what I've seen. But in all the time I've known police officers all of them could tell me the many many hours spent at gun range, working out, etc. Very few talk about all the law knowledge they're required to know or many hours studying it takes to get close to the knowledge of the lawyers and judges listed. The ones I know that did were working on becoming lawyers so that probably doesn't count.

I dont disagree with any of that.
What would you like Pitt to do about it? Make a statement? We can probably assume the UofA attorneys/AD told him to keep his mouth shut on it, period.

There is footage? Anyone got a link?

Horse is already out of the barn now, so nothing. If he suspended the players without seeing the video, he probably should have made a statement saying it would have been better to have seen the evidence before making that move.

Then they should have made a statement. We do still have the presumption of innocence in this country, after a fashion. Getting arrested doesn't mean you are guilty of anything.

I watched the video...... cops didn't help the situation but the players didn't either. I never saw anything in the footage that shows Slusher do anything wrong. Doesn't mean he didn't, just means you can't really see it in the footage.
Bottom line is Fayetteville PD has NEVER exactly been a friend to Razorback Athletics.

He didn't have to *do* anything - that's the point.
Take an action or don't take an action?
Don't take an action. Don't say anything. Don't suspend anyone, after seeing the video of course.
Have a meeting with Anthony and Myles and tell them you support them and love them 100% and they're not suspended.

I liked them better when they were whipping up on OU players...
