I don't feel I'm so important to start my own thread, but it's a compilation of many different thoughts and ideas so I'm putting it here.

First off, we are spoiled as hell as a fanbase.
I will include myself in that. I arrived at the University of Alabama in the fall of 2000 as a freshman excited about the football season. I left with Mike Shula trying to get things fixed. To have a season in which we go 10-2 and finish the regular season ranked probably #6 or #7 in the country and have that be a disappointment speaks to how spoiled we are and how high the standard has been raised. This season was a strong one by any other standard in CFB. With that said...

Saban was wrong yesterday to suggest the fans were part of the problem
This team was FORTUNATE to not lose another 2-3 games at least. And of all those tight games, there was not a team on the other sideline that fielded more talent than the one that we have. That is a coaching problem. In games the last two weeks (thats weeks 11 and 12) we are lining up incorrectly, putting too many men on the field (after a timeout no less), making special teams mistakes because players don't know the rules, and the list goes on. For the GOAT to suggest that fan negativity was a problem for this team is ridiculous.

Our coordinators are both very average
Golding is better than Tosh. That's about it. Putting him against Smart or Pruitt shows how far we have fallen in that regard. Auburn running for that many yards when they don't have offensive skill outside to speak of is pretty amazing. They didn't take us by surprise either. We had a season's worth of film.
O'Brien is mediocre. As far as I'm concerned our offensive issues begin and end with him. He doesn't scheme guys open, he doesn't create and exploit a mismatch, he just calls a play and waits for a talented player to bail him out. Contrast BOB with even Will Friend, who schemed a nice TD by rubbing Branch to get the corner route open in the end zone. This was a problem last year, too, but not as much as this year because...

Our WR development/coaching/talent is a problem
Even with BOB's lack of ability to scheme a guy open, we still had a huge offensive year in 2021 because Jameson Williams and John Metchie were leaps and bounds above anyone we had this year. But what happened in the Iron Bowl and then in the title game when Jamo went out? We just finished game 12 and I can't tell you which WR is going to show up the next time out. Bryce's injury didn't help, but neither did our constant rotating of guys.

S&C is a problem, too
We used to hit the field knowing we were about to ruin someone's night. That mentality came largely, IMO, from Scott Cochran. Was he a clown? Sure, in some ways, but he put an edge into our guys that we do not have now. I'm so tired of seeing the pile move our defense five-six yards every time. I'm tired of our OL not mauling folks. I'm so tired of hearing about anxiety. These are things that were not part of the conversation five years ago. Hopefully, that is one of many things that can be changed moving forward, and I believe...

Saban is still up to the job
If major changes aren't made I'll be shocked. I think Saban saw how close we were last year and it made him think that we could move forward with the status quo and I think he also didn't want to have to overhaul his staff again. I also belive Saban is still of very sound mind and if he doesn't make big changes he will have proven that he is complacent. This isn't about two losses. It's about a season's worth of correctable mistakes continuing to happen all the way to the end of the year. He's the GOAT. He has to see this.

I don't believe we are playing the best wide receiver. Everytime Law gets in the game stuff happens. He is sure handed, knows his route, and he seems to be able to find his way open.

This program needs a complete psychological, physical, and mental make over.

We don't physically or mentally dominate anyone anymore.

There doesn’t feel like there’s a ton of energy in the program at the moment. After the game yesterday, the players just walked off the field. No celebrating. No running over to the student section for a quick thank you. Just kind of lifeless after beating our rival at home. It’s not like we had a game to move on to for next week.

Not saying that’s the problem but it feeds into the fact that this team just didn’t seem have a ton of heart.

This bunch doesn’t play hard. They play dirty. They talk trash and don’t back it up.

I’m happy to be rid of all of them except for Bryce Young who is one of the most admirable players we’ve had.

In a typical SEC West, this is the worst the division has been in 15 to 20 years, this team doesn’t make a bowl without Young’s heroics.

Some of what is being called soft play by the defense is scheme IMO.

If you run a 2 or 3 man DL front you can’t act surprised if your 230lb OLB gets pushed around by an OG.

I agree with this, but they also don’t hustle. They jog constantly, and they rarely if ever make a gang tackle.

Watch Georgia play - their first guy makes contact and then 2 or 3 more players come in to help make the tackle.

With us, everyone just watches and hopes the first guy makes the tackle. If a team hits the second level on us, it’s all on the secondary to make the tackle because no one pursues from behind the play with any effort.

this not like other teams in college football... they are soft and afraid to get injured hence all the mistackling

.. its not the 10-2 fans are complaining about ... its these things

yeah but the flip side is we lost on the road in hostile environment to two Top 10 rivalry teams by less than four points and we would be having an entirely different conversation.

I agree they are not well coached at all and we can and should do better at coordinator We will see what moves Coach makes

No "team" chemistry. Just a bunch of gifted athletes doing their own thing is what it looks like to me. I am really disappointed 31 isn't the alpha we thought he would be.
