Some journalist in New York found an opinion piece written by another journalist from New York 100 years ago saying that the term Gator Bait was what they called black babies they would throw to alligators to terrorize blacks into conforming to their wishes. It's the dumbest fricking shite ever. And it doesn't even matter if that is true or not, which I doubt it is, because no one who uses the term Gator bait is even remotely referring to that scenario.
It is insane. But our bandleader was instructed to no longer play it.

Holy chit, that is fricked up. I've heard "Gator Bait" all my life and have never heard of that association or story. Dumbest thing I think I've ever heard. Journalist must have been an FSU grad

The Gator Bait shite was complete frickery. Florida should have stood up and given them a big 
over that.
