Mine were farming red clay in Oglethorpe County.
But didn’t know that about Ladd….but his name should’ve been a giveaway.

Well if you want to go way back…pretty sure it’s mostly UK. Moms side (the mountain people) were Scotch Irish. At least that’s what genealogy.com said. No way I’m sending DNA to anyone.
Dad was big into genealogy but the problem with going back if you were here early is that in the south a lot of records were destroyed during the Civil War.
My family last name is Spanish-esque and we can track it back to the early 1800’s…but there is nothing prior to that one individual that spawned my family name. Which is uncommon so it’s easy to spot. There are GA and Texas branches.
My grandma was a Bell…which is easier.

The crazy thing is that Ladd supposedly has two younger brothers that are even more tenacious and driven than he is. Mohammed Alkmuhdabarack McConkey and Luigi Giuseppe-Soprano McConkey.
