Spot on article from ESPN's Alex Scarborough. Here is the line that sums up one of our biggest issues, in my opinion.
quote:

To get back on top, Alabama must recapture what made it so successful over the past decade-plus: being a team that not only refused to beat itself, but a team that prided itself on going beyond beating opponents and making them quit.

We aren't this team anymore. When do we talk about domination and making the opponent quit?

Just look at the turnover margins.
We are -7 on the season.

Do I think Nick Saban knows what's wrong with this team? Of course he does... he's GOAT

Do I think he has the energy or drive to fix it this late in his career? ... no I don't

The next few months will tell the tale on that. You can hear it in what he says. He knows we don't physically or mentally dominate anyone anymore.

What's he going to do about it is the question.

I don't think anyone but Nick Saban can give a fair and accurate answer to this question.

Don't expect the sunshine pumpers to be in this thread. They are in deep hiding from the truth.

Saban needs some sort of coach Emeritus and hire his replacement. Then help replacement get the ball rolling as he transitions out.

He know exactly what needs to be done and I think he will do it and go for one more and cement his legacy and ride off into the sunset.
Let not kid and think that his ego (which is a good thing) let him tarnish his legacy. I believe he has it in him. He needs some great hires. Everyone knows he gets coordinators head coaching gigs so I think it would be an easy sell to get some quality candidates.
Staff turnover sucks but if he can do it one more time I think he gets his last NC in a couple years.

I think Kirby is hurting him more than anything honestly. Recruiting the same guys and with his success and age, it gets tougher for Saban. Which may explain why he has been resistant to staff turnover due to the tough recruiting battles

I think there is more to this, I believe the NLI thing has changed everything. Players used to come to Alabama and see former players in the NFL drive up in a sports car and they would say, "I want that" and Saban would say, "I can show you how to get that" and those guys would work their butts off to get to that 1st round. Now, they already got the sports car. LSU was a bunch of nobodys, walkons, and portal trash. None of them have sports cars, and they just humiliated us. why? because they want it and the only way to get it is beat our {insert body part}. What do our guys have to win? nothing really, they are just waiting around for their next paycheck. This may be part of why Texas A&M sux and Clemson just got run over. It's not happened to Georgia yet but if I'm right they won't escape this for long. Teams who don't have a lot of NLI talent may start getting hot and getting rings. Some of these NLI guys are going to be sitting there come draft time with nothing but what little NLI money they haven't blown.

I think anybody with a brain that has watched this football team for the last two -three years can feel pretty confident giving a fair and accurate answer to that question.
