“And knowing he’s empowering Rich McGlynn”

What does this mean?

His statement is neutrally optimistic. Aka an English major intern wrote it

I would assume that means Bruce was at the very least “info-copied” in the process and because of that he knows that Cohen fully supports McGlynn (and what he provides to the Auburn program) in his current position.

It just seems to me a very general statement of support for the new AD from Auburn’s (current) coaching dean.

I don’t read anything negative from it.

Yes I take that as Cohen not coming in wiping out the competition

Same. Bruce is kind of more than a bball coach at Auburn and I think he almost does have to make statements in these situations. This one seems good. Obviously McGlynn is his boy

Supposedly McGlynn fired Fabianich

Though the Person BS (to me) very obviously had NOTHING to do with Bruce and even though the NCAA punished Auburn hard, I believe that experience definitely inclined Bruce towards McGlynn’s favor (and I agree with him, McGlynn is a gem).

McGlynn has been elevated and is basically close #2 beside Cohen. Good move to shore up support today after the Cohen backlash.

McGlynn had the support of all the coaches so i'm sure this way Bruce gets to deal directly with the guy he probably wanted from the start.

How does anything about that statement lead you to think Bruce was not on board?

To me it’s like when you get a new CEO and a VP says I am glad we got him but I am happiest about the CFO having a bigger role. If Bruce was thrilled with Cohen why mention a subordinate to Cohen? Not to mention how much you like the subordinate guy and continuing to work with him.

Scoper has an affinity for finding the negative.

Rich is super involved in mens basketball. Pearl said this when McGlynn got the interim tag

quote:

“Rich was very involved in the day to day operations of men’s basketball,” Pearl pointed out. “Let me just say this: when our players found out that Rich had been elevated into the position he is in now, our players reacted really positively. It had nothing to do with Allen being gone–they loved Allen, but they were happy with Rich.

“If the players respond that way, it kind of tells you something about the relationships that he has with everybody,” Pearl added. “I think you feel that with the donors, too. They are happy for Rich.

Pearl has to comment on these matters. Pearl also had nice things to say about Greene after he resigned and Mcglynn was announced. It’s understandable that he’d also give Mcglynn a shout too, especially in his new role as Deputy AD
