The better college QB: Tebow or Stafford?

I saw ESPN having a discussion on this early today.
The argument for Stafford was the he has the best arm in the nation, is the best NFL prospect, is surrounded by weapons, etc.
The argument for Tebow was the running ability he brings to the table, however, that with the emergence of freshman Demps and Rainey, Florida hasn't had to rely on Tebow as much in the running game.
I'd say if you look at their overall body of work during their career, Tebow is better (remember Tebow's stats last year?).
But just looking at this season, who do you think is the better college QB: Tebow or Stafford?
I'd say its a push.
For example, Stafford currently accounts for 58.1% of the yards put up by the Bulldogs this year. Tebow, on the other hand, currently accounts for 57.2% of the yards put up by the Gators this year.
Also, Stafford has put up 2,006 yards of total offense this season, which is 250.8 ypg. With Tebow, he has put up 1,642 yards of total offense this season, which is 234.6 ypg.

Tebow for being a dual-threat to beat you running or throwing.
Obviously, Stafford's game translates better at the next level.

Right. He has played behind a solid, experienced OL, and last year was throwing to one of the best players in the country along with Cornelius Ingram and Andre Caldwell.

Stafford is the better QB imo. He reminds me of John Elway. Stafford is better prepared for the NFL also. Not many running Qb's in the NFL and I think Tebow, once drafted will end up like Matt Jones (former Arky QB) and playing a hybrid WR/TE position.

I'll tell you on Sunday. I think this game comes down to whether or not Stafford can hook up with his receivers and if Tebow can pick up key 1st downs with his legs.
This is a big match-up of contrasting styles, but I feel like Florida has too much speed on the outside and power with Tebow up the middle.
They one thing they are missing is a big and tall outside receiver.

Tebow up the middle given our DTs and Ellerbe back at middle LB? Very doubtful. Tebow is not Charles Scott (or anything even close as a runner).
Speed? Trindon Holliday is just as fast as Demps/Rainey and he had 3 yards on 3 carries against UGA. I bet Demps/Rainey don't get the ball any more than 8-10 times against Georgia, with most of those coming in the 1st quarter. It won't work, and Meyer/Mullen will bottle it up and go back to the Tebow/Harvin smash game they always go quickly back to against good defenses.
Moreno was the story of last year's game, but Stafford also abused the Florida secondary. He constantly read them correctly and audibled to passes that resulted in huge plays. They are going to load up to stop Moreno this year, and Stafford will kill them again, especially now having AJ Green.

100% correct. shite they lost 4 games with the heisman winner last year.

I would go with Tebow. I would take him on my team before Stafford every day of the week. Dude is a warrior. Best most passionate player in the country.

Auburn: UF ball at midfield after a punt, late 4th Q, tie game. 3 & out. Auburn gets the ball back and kicks the game-winning FG.
LSU: Tebow throws a killer 4th Q INT, deep in UF territory, that gives LSU a short-field TD and totally turns the game around.
Georgia: Tebow sacked 6 times and pretty average for the game despite having weapons like Harvin/Caldwell/Ingram to throw to. Offense manages only 23 points.
Michigan: 50% completion rate against a bad defense. Once again unable to pull out a 4th Q win in a tight game.
Tebow is 15-5 as a starter. Stafford is 24-5. You say Moreno, I say Harvin/Caldwell/Ingram, etc. You say UF defense, I say UGA OL. And so on...

Did I say the Tebow or the gators were perfect? No. They lost 4 games with him. Its not insane to think they could go 7-5 without him. If Tebow got hurt the first game of this season, what do you think the Gators record would be? Surely not 7-1.

Fair enough. But the same could be said about Georgia as well.
