1st and 10 at their 32 with 38secs left
3 timeouts and we run three pass plays for no yards and burn no clock
That game should of ended with us kicking a fg to win with no time remaining
I don't blame Will one bit. I felt awesome knowing him from 50 to win the game after we played that poorly
Another issue was on the previous set of downs the tenn had back to back injuries to get 2 free to's and get their def set.
'Cause an internet armchair coach says so. Gottcha

Appearing on The Dan Patrick Show, former college head coach Rick Neuheisel criticized Nick Saban for how he managed the end of Saturday's Tennessee game...
quote:
“Not only does he recruit the best talent, but he manages games extremely well,” Neuheisel said. “You have to run the ball at the end of that game. You have to run the ball and not only try to get a few more yards for your kicker, you have to make Tennessee use their timeouts. Without those timeouts, Tennessee can’t get themselves back into field goal range.”

If we had run the ball once and gotten no yardage, people would have bitched that we weren’t trying harder to get closer. I can’t fathom thinking putting the ball in Bryce’s hands wasn’t the right move
If Gibbs holds on to that ball, at very worst we are kicking a 35 yard field goal as time expired. Hell he might have scored

You absolutely have to run the ball on one of those 3 downs to run the clock/force a TO. You can throw twice (maybe) but you have to run at least once 100 times out 100 in that situation.

I agree he should have caught the ball, but you can adjust your thinking based on what happens on the previous play/plays … they shouldn’t have gotten the ball back with TOs remaining

Now do Golding’s drunk slack jaw arse.

We should have run the ball at least once for no then reason than to move off of the right hash. If I’m not mistaken, Will’s last 3 misses were from the right hash.

I'm no BOB apologist, but I'm gonna go with the supposedly improved veteran defense giving up 52 points as the problem in this game.

Yep. Not a BOB fan but 49 should win a game . He should have known , however, that we were struggling on D and called plays taking that into account . Got to have a feel for the game

So we can all agree it’s time for Saban to step up and clean house on all sides of the ball. Not just about the wins. We are a sloppy, complacent, undisciplined and lazy team. Something he came in pissed off about in ‘07.

A screen pass would have almost certainly been a completion and kept theclock running while picking up positive yardage. A screen pass, a run, then you can add another pass if you want. We likely get the ball closer and also eat up the clock or force TN to burn their timeouts.

I don't know about totally clean house, but both coordinators need to go. If BooB and Golding are both still on staff next season then I think it's safe to say that the Process is dead and Saban is content with just being competitive.

I think this is important. It would have forced one of their timeouts and helped Will. It was bad game management.

I don't know about "content with just being competitive" but, I do think it will the indicator that Bama's run of absolute dominance is over.

Fair. But it’s not BoBs fault we gave up 50 yards in 13 seconds. It’s also not his fault that Gibbs dropped a pass that would have accomplished everything we were hoping for. I don’t think any of those play calls were unreasonable

I do think Bama can do MUCH better for an OC than O'Brien, but my biggest issue is the lack of unpredictability on first downs. But at the end we absolutely should have run the ball at least once when setting up the FG. Forces them to use a timeout...ball placement for the kicker...I thought WR had a chance to be a legend, but I'm not putting the fault on a 50 yard FG miss. If it was from 35, yes, but not 50. Coaches failed him there. I also think even if he makes the kick then, ut likely still scores a TD to win with 15 seconds left because of our shitty defense.
The #1 problem with this program right now is Pete Golding. Period. That's not just making him the scapegoat for a painful loss. He is horrible and easily the worst hire Saban has ever made. Tired of that drunk clown just stealing money.

If we're honest, both coordinators are mediocre at best, and arse at worst. Neither would do well if they didn't have far more talent than 90% of teams they face.
