He telegraphs were he's going with the ball.
Safeties gonna eat.

That would be nice, but our DB's have like 2 INT's in the past 3 years. It's weird.

Can’t wait for 10 back shoulder throws where our DB’s don’t turn around to look for the ball.

Their offense is designed like that, it can be very simple for the QB. There are a ton of one read throws.

Deep ball will decide whether they score a bunch, some, or not a ton. I am confident we'll defend his legs, their running and short stuff well. The game will come down to whether they hit 2 deep throws or 6 of them.
They play offense knowing that they're going to have some quick 3 and outs, knowing that there are going to be plays that end in throwing it away because the throw they want isn't there, etc.
Last year's stats pretty much perfectly sum up what Saturday will be all about.
Tennessee Offense
- 3 plays, 166 yards, 55.3 YPP
- 52 plays, 181 yards, 3.5 YPP
They had 3 passes for almost 170 yards and 3 TDs. Outside of that they were almost completely shut down...........but you can't "outside of that" to 3 plays that net 21 pts and 170 yds.
However, I will take that exact stat line/performance by our defense this year in a heartbeat.

He threw 3 last year and Bama had 2 of them.

I’ve been having this convo with a couple of my buddies here in Knoxville. Their offense is predicated on speed and tempo and getting the opposing defense out of position on the snap and busting in the back end. If you can line up and just play fundamental defense fast you win 60% of the reps. Now they are gonna take their one on one shots and hit on some of them but their offense isn’t some complex scheme. It’s just a ton of tempo and simple 1 on 1 reads. If you can force them into a few quick 3 and outs their game plan falls apart.

Yep - which has happened to Heupel at times against really good defenses both at UCF and last year against us and Georgia. Hooker is really good at making decisions and they have both a speed guy (Hyatt) and 2 big, physical possession dudes (McCoy and Tillman if he can play) who make it really hard to guard 1-on-1. However, I like our 1-on-1 guys (including the nickel and safeties) as much as anyones.
And as important as anything - our tackling in space this year has been second to none. And you better do that on their prodding early down plays (quick throws out wide).

Yep. Their whole offense is a numbers game. They line up 3 or 4 wide. One running back and see how many guys you are gonna commit to the box. If you commit enough to make it man on man they start by throwing quick outs (screens and slants) and hope to bust a big play off missed tackles. Then they start taking their deep shots off the same formation.

I hope Big91 freight trains his arse from the blind side. To the point it rattles his teeth

Our DBs have to make those one on one tackles on those quick passes and not let them extend plays.

If Young plays, I believe the "Tenn winning" threat has been vastly over played. We are a better team with a much better defense than Tenn. Young plays I don't think its within 10.

Cheetah package will be on full display. I don't think Tennessee has really been pressured much by their opponents so far?

The cheetah package will be devastating to UT. They have seen nothing like it and CFB nerds said the defense will likely shock UT some.

They can get the ball out quick enough to neutralize.
If I were Heupel and saw Anderson, Turner, and Braswell in the game, I'd send the receivers out past the numbers and run straight at Golding's defense.
Wash, rinse, repeat.
