Wonder if we are leaving days early for BYU to get used to the altitude?

or practicing in silicon masks to simulate the breathing problems, like Texas tried once before heading to Provo

What other strategies are out there, anyone know?

Why would they bother being prepared for a game in Provo when we haven't been prepared the last 3 weeks

Pretty sure we’ve got a few other things to worry about besides the altitude.

This team is hot sweaty swamp butt right now.

your first two replies... It Karmack would easily have foretold that

IDK man, but the altitude will cause problems for several. I am a bit concerned for the african americans because of lung health that... What is that disease?

Provo's elevation is only 4500. Shouldn't experience any altitude issues at that range.

I'm guessing you've never lived in or visited an area that high.

According to fighters you want to get there the least amount of time before the match. Or you want to be there months before.

I climb mountains. But thanks for letting me know you never have and that you have no clue about elevation.

I've lived at 4300 feet in NM and definitely noticed a difference during PT both when I moved there from LR and when I moved away from NM to South Korea.

Born in Denver and every time I went back to visit as a kid there was a noticeable difference if I was playing basketball or something like that.

Our guys will notice the difference.

Oxygen percentage at various altitudes

We will need every excuse we can come up with.

4300ft is nothing though. I've climbed Wheeler Peak the highest peak in NM over 13K and been all over Taos Ski Valley area and the Rio Grande area over by Questa. One of my favorite areas. Also summited a couple CO 14ers so far.

A night of sleep in Provo is more than enough for just 4500 feet of elevation.

Altitude effects begin at about 6500ft. We sleep overnight at 8K+ft before our summits.

But if we need excuses already, have at it.

So is Provo going to affect us or not?

Does BYU have a Quarterback with arms? If so, then the Hogs are in trouble ????

Are you a fat offensive lineman?

There's a reason that acclimation periods are given prior to making people PT test.

If altitude wasn't an issue, Olympic teams wouldn't train in Colorado Springs.

As far as excuses, I've already stated that we should beat them

No. The couple of guys that may need oxygen will have tanks on the sideline like every game.

We played at higher at Colorado State. I think people just assume Provo is higher than it is.

You would be correct.

I'm sure the people who will be yelling about the altitude at the TV when we are getting torched Saturday have no idea where BYU is and couldn't place it on a map with a gun to their head

No OL here, but I have been to Cuzco and the Altiplano. Which are 12K and 15K feet and higher, respectively. Have also been to many 14ers in the US. Fayetteville is about 1700 for perspective. If our guys can’t handle 4,500 feet against BYU for a game, then we are not conditioned well. Our defense will suck just as bad at that altitude as any other one, so it all comes down to whether or not we can stop shooting ourselves on offense and hold BYU to as few points as possible but acknowledge that they’ll move the ball.

Not to brag, but I’ve done all the trails at Devils Den.
