Why does saying “Milroe is bad” - which is obvious - make some of you so mad?

The guy is clearly a good athlete…he’s just not a QB.

Why y’all carrying a torch for this guy?

I will bite. I think Milroe isn’t a great passer but could be serviceable when plays are called to his strengths, not his weaknesses. BoB has refused to alter the offense to what Jalen can do. Jalen is not Bryce and never will be. People are not jumping on your bandwagon because we believe the blame lies with the person calling the plays not the QB that is trying to excite plays that are not in his wheelhouse.

We win by 3 touchdowns if he doesn't fumble.... you know the thing good running players aren't supposed to do.

He's clearly not good but the playcalling doesn't help him in literally any capacity. He actually had some good plans tonight with some crossing routes that we just didn't go back to. Went straight back into long developing routes. Truly amazing stuff

Milroe isn't serviceable as a QB. We almost lost tonight to a terrible team with their backup QB.

He should change positions and never take another snap as a QB for the rest of his life.

I don't feel a very strong need to poo poo a kid that's playing his heart out for my school. It doesn't add value to anything. Football players are people with families. So when other people do it, it feels self-serving at the expense of the young man. I guess it's my nature as a die hard fan and a human.

Not mad just don’t think it’s fair saying a guy who was already considered a project by some whose in his second year making his first career start “isn’t a QB”. He’s not in that Tua, Bryce category where they were considered immediate starters. Milroe falls in that Hurts, Mac category where they need 3-4 years to develop. Hurts got incredibly lucky having Kiffin his true freshman year and Mac would have looked just as bad as Milroe if he started a game in his second year.

If he sprays the ball like a shot gun you cant call him plays to throw the ball. When he fumbles you cant call plays for him to run it. Just cant count on him.

(What is he a 2nd year player? maybe when hes a 4th year he will be polished enough if you have to use him)

It took Mac till his 4th year to become full time starter and “polished enough”. Milroe is a project, just like Mac was. Problem is Milroe was forced into a start when he wasn’t ready. Milroe had 6 more attempts last night then Mac had the entirety of his 2nd year.

I was not at the game and from the tv broadcast I could not tell if they were calling some simple crosses and slants and Milroe wasn’t pulling the trigger or whether they weren’t even calling those routes. Watching Milroe it looked like he was constantly looking at some quick read and just didn’t pull the trigger and then all hell broke lose. A&M had the excepted and correct game plan for him. They were daring him to beat them over the top but he just couldn’t get it done.

That 2020 season gave some of y’all some memory issues regarding Mac. First start was 3rd year vs Arkansas on Oct 26. A full year and a couple weeks after Milroe first start. It took him time to develop. Will Milroe end up being as good as Mac? 99.999999% No, I believe Simpson beats him out next year but at least give him the same time y’all gave Mac to develop before writing him off. Imagine saying Mac couldn’t play QB after his 2nd year and 13 total passing attempts.

Mac was a three star QB that had two upperclassmen future NFL QBs ahead of him on the depth chart when he was a RS freshman. He wasn’t playing because he “needed time to develop”. He wasn’t playing because he was in a stacked quarterback room. Despite that, he still got game reps which shows how highly the coaching staff thought of his abilities. Either way, I seriously doubt Mac would have been as bad as Milroe if he had been forced into action in 2018.

He could make millions as a tight end - but no one on the staff or admin has the balls to tell him this

Really think Ty is the dude but he's a true FR and just not ready yet. In hind site maybe he should have played a lot vs Vandy or La Monroe. Milroe is just not natural passing and therefore has a ceiling. He can get better but probably not much. I flipped channels to the USC game and their QB is much more natural.

I think I’m doing a bad job at explaining my position. I’m not hating on Mac or saying Milroe is our future starter. My point was yes, Milroe was bad but he was always considered a project who needs time to develop. Would Mac have been as bad if he had to start his 2nd year with BoB as his OC? Idk he wasn’t put in that position but I do know when he got more playing time and eventually had to start for Tua he had 3 years to develop and had Sark as his OC, the best OC of the Saban era. Milroe on the other hand has BoB, the worst OC since the pre Kiffin days and is only a 2nd year. Either way none of this matters, the BoB problem has to be fixed.
