While I agree we are now a complete shitshow, money talks.
I am afraid that there is more to it than money. You have to remember that the majority of the "good" coaches either have money or know they will get it no matter where they go. I personally think the money angle is not a big part of it
What is happening is what I and some others were afraid would happen. You hire a new coach, you get some Auburn frickery (If you are older than 20, you know it was coming) then you get in a cycle of trying to find a hidden gem. Which there are very few of
So many here over value what Auburn is and how attractive the coaching job is. It is not as attractive as many of us want it to be. The coaching gig is a small group as are their reps. And that is why we get coaches like we do.
In my life, we have never landed a "Big name coach". I look at things in reality, not what I want them to be

The only hire I remember not being followed by a collective WTF is Tubbs.
If Rhett Lashlee comes through those doors next....
Perhaps we are at the stage of the Auburn life cycle where we take Ole Miss's coach again?

If people don't understand that the AU HC gig is entirely different than most every P5 school, look at why Venables said he didn't take the job:
"I had made reference that I was a little bit nervous," Venables said. "I really didn't think we had the alignment [at Auburn] that we have here. So I was a little bit nervous.

Anyone that's been paying attention to our program for the last 30 years knows exactly what he's talking about. Not only do you have to recruit and coach against the very best in college football: you have to do it being hamstrung by the most meddlesome group of boosters in the country.
