Anyone concerned at the lack of snaps played by the backups in the first game? Many starters, almost all, played over 50 snaps on both offense and defense.

Most backups got single digit snaps.

What we’re the counts and how did they compare to last season?

That game was over quick which tells me they wanted to get guys work and get tape to analyze. Wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a lighter workload this weekend ahead of PSU

Single digits for most of the backups

I think we ran 63 plays on offense. They ran high 50s on offense I think. If that was the question.

The two picks and then the horrendous roughing the kicker call really shortened our offensive snaps, so think that was why the starters played more. Hoping to see all WRs get a lot of action this week hopefully.

I'm more worried about defensive depth and development then on the offense.

The lack of rotation on the DL is concerning. Was last year as well.

Agree on DL, but we’ve been one of the top rotating DLs for a while including last years so don’t see why that would stop all the sudden. Maybe the lightning delay kept them fresh and the coaches wanted to get them live reps knowing we also had game two as a warmup. Who knows

I will say, I am worried why Dylan Brooks seems to not get on the field yet. What’s going on with him.

Also, haven’t seen much chatter on this but WTH was Landon King?! Did he have some undisclosed injury?

50 doesn’t seem like a lot. I’d have to see last year to compare, though.

If it continues, I’m worried. But I have a feeling this week will be lighter. We’ll see. A one game sample size of snap counts is hard to be concerned over

Rotations were much lower last year then previous years for the DL.

Another thing. Should it concern me Owen only had 4 tackles? Same as always.

He graded pretty lowly too. Which has been status quo since Derrick and Marlon left.

Pappoe plays Mike. Mercer didn’t try to run between the tackles much. I don’t know how his year will be, but you can tell he’s definitely put the work in the weight room this offseason.

No one questions Owen’s worth ethic, desire, commitment, or talent. It’s just he’s never produced on the field.

Brooks is still a little light. Plus he’s running I think 4th string right now.

To Pappoe’s credit he continually pops up in pre season star lists because he is a freak athlete alone.

Yes, the snap counts were puzzling and have been under this staff. Leota and Hall played almost the entire game, which is strange given that you'd think they'd want to use these gimme games to build up the backups at that position specifically. You already know what those two can do. Guys like Morris Joseph Jr. who were getting camp-hype also barely saw the field. Shedrick Jackson played almost the entire game.

Like Corch said, DL rotation reduced significantly last season under Harsin.

I think younger players and backups need reps for development and building depth. Plus saving the body and legs for later in the season.

That is not a lot of plays.

60 for the defense. If 1s and 2s split 50 plays, not much left for the 3s and 4s.

I think the numbers were something like 67 for Mercer and around 60 for Auburn. Can't remember specifics.
