I've always thought this was a silly attitude to have on message boards and elsewhere.

You started a threat to discuss the issue. He has let his opinion be known. His opinion on the issue is that people shouldn't care about what Dawn is doing.

You, and others, disagree and that you're choice.

But the fact that you think he must care because he's taken two minutes of his life to say he doesn't think it's that big of a deal is silly to me. That's all.

I agree with this as well.

He’s free to say we are “snowflakes” etc.
Do whatever he wants. And he’s free to come in and say who cares

That said. I fricking care CNB
I just don’t agree with her at all.

Don't you have to care even a little bit to have an opinion

Is that national news? Front page of CNN

How about this? National news?

Front page of ESPN.

Just because it's on the website, doesn't mean it's "national news"

I find it ludicrous for you to back him but each to his own. He claims it's not national news but it's on national media so anyone with half a brain knows he is wrong but again each to his own. I'm done with trying to discuss it when the only response is talking smack and the mod backing him. Y'all have a good one I'm out

Hey man, i don’t think he’s backing him at all.
GarnetWay definitely agrees with us, but also agrees CNB can say who cares

Not to you IBG,

ESPN story

I didn't want to comment on this story because making a decision before the facts are in makes for terrible decision making.

Facts of the matter are, Dawn Staley was wrong. She should apologize to BYU and reschedule those games. I don't mind her using her notoriety to support hey causes, as long as she doesn't use the school to forward her agenda UNTIL all the facts are in.

Are you saying that Dawn Staley gets to be able to make poor, off the cuff, decisions that lead to division in this country and people can't criticize her for it because she is black? And, because a person may be a white male, that precludes him from giving a pragmatic answer?

Y’all act like Ray Tanner didn’t approve this decision

There is zero division in this country from a womens basketball game being canceled

I guarantee he did. In fact, the whole University owes the apology and there should be a policy put in place to avoid these things in the future.

What do you call this thread? Pretty divisive if you ask me. There's even a thread on the main board.

Facts are, She was wrong. Tanner was wrong. If the University went along with it, They are wrong. shite happens, they were duped and jumped to conclusions.

Nothing I said mentioned whether or not I supported his position.

I just think it’s dumb when people having a couple of comments must mean they care.

Yea I’d prefer someone that has a differing opinion than me so we can speak about it

I disagree with CNB and how he feels about this

Would we really expect Ray Tanner to push back against his most successful coach in a race-based matter? In today’s environment? Of course not.

There’s a lot to despise Ray Tanner over, but this is one of those situations where he was between a rock and a hard place. He chose to deal with the PR blowback from certain segments of today’s media and our state’s politicians because Dawn wins trophies and any semblance of us not going along with her reasoning could lead to a negative racial narrative that would sink our athletics.

And let’s be honest, everyone. This is a matter that will have ZERO impact on Dawn’s ability to recruit the top WBB players in the country because they’ll all likely agree with her decision regardless of the facts. She’ll have us at least in the Final 4 again next year, and that is ultimately the criteria that her and Tanner are judged against.

While the facts of the matter are embarrassing for our university, especially when considering her reaction to Mizzou’s false accusations, we’ll simply just have to take it on the chin and deal with it because we need Dawn to bring success to our athletics (which, of course, is an indictment on Tanner’s tenure).
