There isn't really anything good on Netflix right now, so for your football viewing pleasure -

Junction Boys movie on Youtube

It's a pretty good movie. I'm surprised Youtube hasn't removed it due to copy right. I think Tom Berenger is one of the few Americans in the movie and it was filmed in Australia. It is mostly an Australian cast, who do a good job with the Texas accents. The movie doesn't glorify Bryant, in fact it makes him look pretty bad. It is more the story of how hard that group of survivors worked to be part of the team.

A&M couldn’t even win a title with Bear Bryant. Sad

I wonder if they will show the ESPN sit-down interview with some of the "Junction" players after the film. Gene Stallings was one of the players who was at A&M at that time. He said the portrayal was false. Just plain debunked various "facts" shown in the film and posed some philosophical questions that showed the faulty nature of some of the film's conclusions.

A couple that I remember was that the drinking shown and implied simply didn't happen. (Though it is "common knowledge" that Bryant drank, but not "on the job".) Also, that while Bryant was tough, the players knew that he cared about them. Stallings really pressed this point. He was politely adamant.

I remember that movie. It was about a tuff hard-nosed red blooded full grown man trying his best to de-queer a place of Gaylord's. If Bear Bryant couldn't fix it then nobody can.
