They were ranked #2 and undefeated in 1975 with a chance to play for a natty going to their last game against Arkansas. They lost 31-6 and Arkansas went to the cotton bowl due to a three way tie for the conference championship tie breaker.
They claim that as an SWC championship, though shared, and lost their bowl game for a two loss season and finished #11.

I saw that game too. Ags were all primed for Cotton Bowl. One of the funniest signs I ever saw was an old lady from Arkansas with a hog hat and a sign that said "Give the Aggies Liberty or Give Them Death" lol. Aggies lost and went to Liberty bowl.
