What’s your issue with DJ Durkin?

His defenses’ ranks in Yards per play (As DC):

Ole Miss:
2021: #61
2020: #115

Florida:
2014: #5
2013: #42

Michigan:
2015: #5
2014: #14 (before he was DC)

Bottom line: His defenses improved every year he was there. He has coached Top 5 defensive teams. He now has Top 5 defensive talent at Texas A&M.

Do I think he is as good schematically as Mike Elko? No. I think Elko was the best in the game, particularly at in game adjustments. However, Elko’s defenses usually came out kind of flat and then were playing lights out by the end of the game. Durkin will be more aggressive and bring more intensity as a coach.

We will see how it works out but you act like we hired the worst DC imaginable when he was one of the best available.

Why don’t we discuss his resume instead of throwing around personal insults? I’m sure Durkin has done something impressive in his 7 year HC/DC career that I’m not aware of, right? Why don’t you tell me how great Texas A&M and your DC are rather than insulting me? Wow!! Meltdown and Triggered!!!

BK is probably a pretty good coach. He has never won the big game but had a pretty good record at ND, even though ND never has really accomplished much. He is somewhat weird with the whole grinding thing.

Jimbo has won a natty at FSU. He has had a winning record every year he has been at A&M. A&M has been invited to a bowl game every year he has been our coach including an Orange Bowl win. He is 2-2 against LoSerU since he became our coach. He called out Saban last year then beat him. He has had good recruiting classes and last year broke the all time record with the #1 class. He should have us in the playoffs in the next year or two.

Durkin is an assistant coach who will work within Jimbo's system. Have you ever played for or coached with Durkin? No? Then you really do not have any idea what you are talking about and look extremely stupid calling him trash, etc. Jimbo has known him for years. I would trust Jimbo's opinion of him over some triggered LoSerU fan on the rant.

Every Aggie fan out there wishes that you could hire the right coach and be in the playoffs a couple of years later. That just is not very realistic. If Jimbo does not get progressively better over the next couple of years, I doubt he will remain our head coach until the end of his contract.
