30,936 students in Fayetteville this fall. 7,099 freshmen. New all-time record.

Both numbers set new records. There are so many freshmen, the U of A is housing 900 of them off-campus at nearby apartment complexes.

We continued to grow while sucking at sports for a while. Now, we are good (or at least not embarrassing) and there's a rush for admission on the Hill. Nuts. Also, prayers sent for anyone trying rent anything in Fayetteville anytime soon.
Edit: Updated

That’s nuts. There was 15,000 total when I was there in the early 2000s and it felt crowded then.

I think there were about 12K total when I went in 89. My squid is a junior this year and says it's Texas North. Cutest little Pi Phi y'all never saw.

Felt like that 10 years ago, not just the people either. Feels like all the businesses started shifting locations up there as well.

I'd be curious of the break down of residents vs out of state students
Posted on 7/31/22 at 4:22 pm to ArHog
I would guess it is close to 50/50 in-state vs out of state.
Some of the out of staters apply for and get residency while they're in school, especially if they're staying for grad school.
The past couple of freshman classes have been majority out of state.

Wow. Looks like we are already majority OOS.
Also, while not started in Texas..
Is DQ a "Texas Thing"?

Barf. Hopefully they just relocate the one in NLR. It sucks!

Texans claiming something to be a "Texas thing" is irrelevant. They are prone to doing that by nature. That article describes generic small town life from the perspective of someone who has never been outside Texas and thinks everything that happens in their bubble is unique to them
For example- white girls in the KC suburbs love Chick Fil A. That doesn't make it a "KC thing" - even if they say it is
I also happen to know the ownership group opening the DQs in NWA and they are not affiliated with Texas in any way

Dreading the return of insane traffic. This summer, there was such a huge drop off in traffic once the students went home. Fayetteville’s street network is not adequate for all the students. Not even close.

For a school of our size that is a lot of International students.

Yeah it will suck. I noticed an uptick last Friday when I believe the sorats were coming back to prep for rush. The school has gotten big quickly.
Its insane how many student-oriented apartment buildings there are now, and they are all apparently full.

Speaking of DQ, I used to like them, but these new ones they've put in Fayetteville are fricking trash. The one on MLK already closed its doors for good
